Callisto 0.50 - Week 1 Update Part 2
Added 2020-07-03 03:03:32 +0000 UTCFirstly, thanks for your ongoing support. The funds recently collected will be put to good use procuring Daz3D assets required for the side mission in v0.50. Going to be a western theme side mission. Given that last weeks update covered all of 2 days of development of v0.50, I thought I would call this week 1 part 2.
The work over the last week has been a little different from the norm. Over this time I have been predominately doing coding to implement the following:
- Quest tracker and replay system in v0.41.
- Creation of a Callisto demo which is an extract of the current side mission into a stand alone game.
- Creation of the relationship system including interface and related maths.

The image above has been taken from within the game and is a screen that is accessible from the main toolbar at the top of the screen. It provides a track of your current relation status with each character. This system is dynamic and changes with romantic actions undertaken with each character. You could have it heavily slanted towards Lia in early game, towards Tiffany in mid game and Kara in end-game.
This system is calculated on a couple of levels. The inner circle (Kara, Lia, Tiffany) is balanced such that when you focus on 1 of them the relationship slips with the other 2. The outer circle is a combined effect between which of the outer circle character you focus on and your current relationship with characters on the inner circle. If you look at the circle above, you will see that the relationship is stronger with Tanya than with Julia. Whilst both have received roughly equal attention from the main character, Julia is more heavily aligned with Tiffany than Lia, hence the resultant score is lower.
The 'love indexes' are used to determine the following:
- Currently available romantic content (total content available dependent upon progress in main story line).
- Tailoring of interactions with the main character. With low score it will be business-like and with high score far more familiar / flirty.
- Interactions between crew members. Different events will be trigger under certain situations. For example with the scores above, Tiffany is likely to play a prank on Lia.
Having worked out the relationship system and already resolved related coding, it's on to the strip club animations. Going to be be an interesting week in terms of how successful I will be with creating realistic dance sequences. Whilst I want to produce something impressive on this front, I'm not going to abandon everything else in that goal.
As far as other content, the following is planned to be implemented in v0.50:
- Main Story - 2 minor elements
- Side Mission - western theme
- News story - 1 off
- Adult channel - 1 off
- Tiffany / Julia - significant romantic content
- Kara - minor romantic content
- Lia - reworking of current lewd content
- Crew Interactions - additional events around the ship, controlled in part by the new relationship system.
- Commodities Trading - addition of Gideon and Dione
