March 29, 2018 - Public Progress Report

 Hello, everyone! It’s time for the monthly progress report! We’ll start off with the highlights, and then I’ll elaborate on them below.

• Blue Star Episode 3 has entered dubbing.
  
• The Leliana short has entered dubbing.
  
• The Elizabeth video has entered dubbing.
  
• The Jill short has finished preproduction and is on schedule for its intended April 30 release.
  
• There will be an open casting call for Femshep in Blue Star opening on April 2 (not April 1, to avoid people mistaking it for an April Fool’s joke).

And now, elaboration!

• Blue Star Episode 3 has entered the dubbing stage. All of the core animation is done. The sex scene is sitting at 19:15 in runtime, with the total episode sitting at 24:25. Now that core animation is done, I don’t see that moving more than 20 seconds, once detailing is added. With the post-SFM editing added in for credits and the recap, I expect a final runtime of 26:00. Not a guarantee, but a projection I’m pretty confident in. I am expecting May to make significant strides toward completion, and will be surprised if the episode isn’t released by the end of July.
  
  
  • InsideIncognita will be gone for most of April, filming for a singing competition that she placed in early this month. During that time, she has told me she won’t be allowed to talk with people (which is an understandable precaution for the hosts of the competition to invoke), which also implicitly means she won’t be able to get any voice-recording done during April.
    
    
• The Leliana short has entered the dubbing stage (well, technically I still need to edit the rendered dub video to add cues for the voice talent, and send the videos out; but they’re rendered and ready). Earlier this week, Milly finally managed to overcome what has been incapacitating her since mid-February, getting me the last pieces of audio I needed before I could finish the dubbing sequence.
  
  
  • I expect to get the dubbing audio from both Milly and Ivan for the Leliana short while working on the Jill short this month. More on how I intend to tackle this below.
    
    
• The Elizabeth video has entered the dubbing stage. Yes, that means I have three projects out for dubbing simultaneously. The video is projected to be about 8 minutes in length, with just over 5 straight minutes of Liz getting fucked and creamed. It should be a real fun video, when the dust has finally settled.
  
  
  • InsideIncognita has recorded all of the non-sex audio for the video, and has gotten me half of the audio (the other half required her to re-record at a later date, due to her audio interfacing destroying the previous recordings). She is hoping to get the rest of that audio and the dub audio to me before she leaves in less than 48 hours for the aforementioned filming.
    
    
• The Jill short has finished preproduction. This involved writing; bringing SilkyMilk up to speed on my particular voicing process, for her Aardvarkian debut as Jill Valentine; setting up a few scenebuild commissions from StrayaSFM (this post’s image is a mock-up scene that he put together, that I liked so much I rewrote the screenplay to include); verifying I have all the assets I need (such as a helicopter and associated sounds); and lots of model work, including building Jill and Chris, and even a few props.
  
  
  • This may be SilkyMilk’s debut for my videos, but she is not new to the scene; she was recommended to me personally by Milly, after they worked together on Fow’s 2B video. I’ve listened to her Jill impressions, and in my opinion she sounds extremely similar to Jill’s voice actress from the Resident Evil Remake. I think we will all be very pleased with her performance!
    
    
  • Unsurprisingly, the king of voices Ivan E. Recshun is returning to grace my videos with his vocal godliness, this time as Chris Redfield.
    
    
  • For those who are impatient and are willing to spoil the video for themselves, I have posted the screenplay for the short on Patreon. Really, though - the video is only (God willing) a month away. Then again, given my track record for getting things released on time lately... I wouldn’t blame anyone for not wanting to take their chances.
    
    
• Pawsywasy will unfortunately not be voicing Femshep, in her cameo appearance in Blue Star Episode 3. I am really heartbroken to announce this, but the complications she’s been facing have proven untenable. This is the second time now I’ve had to part ways with her, after similar complications resulted in Bounty Booty being delayed six months, with zero communication in the time between. I will not be asking her to voice anything in the future - I simply can’t take doing this a third time.
  
  
  • On April 2, I will be posting an open casting call for Femshep, to CastingCall.Club. It will be open to anyone and everyone to apply to, and I will be making a post about it here. Please feel free to share it with any and every voice talent you think has the chops to pull off a cock-drunk Jennifer Hale. The call will remain open until May 1. I will have more details on that when I actually make the call.

The Order Of Operations: Three Delayed Videos and One Scheduled Video - What Gets Done When?

So, I’ve got three delayed videos (technically only two; Blue Star Episode 3 doesn’t have a technical release date, but let’s be honest - it should have been done by now, even with it being 25 minutes of animation done entirely by one person in between various other projects). And a fourth video is entering scheduled production now.

There’s two ways this can be tackled:

1. Focus on the delayed videos and try to get them done as quickly as possible, and in doing so delay and inevitably push off the release date of the scheduled video. Which would then cause a cascade that ultimately means that every video from this point on will be delayed.
   
   
2. Focus on the scheduled video and try to get it done on time (or, better yet, ahead of time), and in doing so, cause the delayed videos to become even more delayed. Which would then cause a burst of super-delayed videos all being released in close proximity to one another, while all future videos stay (ideally) on schedule.
   

I am choosing to do the second option. I would rather the videos that are already delayed be delayed even farther, than delay videos that aren’t currently delayed, in trying to get the delayed videos released.

As such, this is the order of operations for me:

Jill short -> Liz video -> Leliana short -> Blue Star Episode 3

In essence, that means that the Jill short will be getting the brunt of my efforts. In the event that I find myself waiting on other people, or just need to take a break from the Jill short, then I will work on the Liz video. If I find myself waiting or needing to take a break from both the Jill short and Liz video, then I work on the Leliana short, etc, etc.

I expect to have a fairly long wait in May for Innie and Ivan to record the dub sequence for Blue Star Episode 3. Well, I expect a fairly long wait for Innie - Ivan I expect to get 6 different takes of the 19 minutes of audio recorded, 13 minutes after I send the videos and screenplays to him. I am reasonably giving her 2 and a half weeks to get the audio recorded and edited. Recall that Innie will be gone for most all of April, so she can’t record any sooner than maybe the last week of April. Realistically, I am expecting her recording to begin May 1.

During that wait, I won’t be able to work on Blue Star anymore. And so I will be spending that time working on the Liz video and the Leliana short. I should have all of the audio needed for both at that time, so it should just be a matter of chugging away at the post-dub details (mostly lip-sync and detail animation).

I am confident that I will not run into the same bad timing I did with these previous projects with Jill. InsideIncognita had directorial duties for her lunar new year music festival dumped on her when the staff abandoned ship mid-December, meaning that mid-December to mid-February was a hectic display of managing, administration, and practicing to perform for that festival. That’s why the Liz video got delayed. And Milly had something come up that incapacitated her until earlier this week, starting the same week I asked her to record for the Leliana short.

SilkyMilk and I are confident that won’t happen for Jill, though - she doesn’t have any foreseeable complications coming up that would take her away from being able to record within a few days’ notice. Should anything arise, I will of course notify you all.

But I am confident that nothing will arise.

As a final note, I have been unable to work much this past week. My housemate graduated uni this past weekend. His lease terminates at the end of this month, and started moving out today (Thursday). He finished his classes last Wednesday. And all that time in between we have been spending more or less as much time as we possibly can, because there are virtually zero chances we will ever see each other again, after living together for 3 years and being friends for nearly 6.

In general I try to keep my personal shit out of this blog, but when that personal shit restricts me to only about 7 hours a day total to myself (that’s including eating, working, and taking breaks) for a week solid, and when that personal shit is something as big as a long-time friend moving away to never be seen again... I consider that worth making public, just so people fully understand why I say I haven’t been able to work much this past week.
