Seven Sins System Chapter 565. You Reek

Seven Sins System Chapter 565. You Reek

Instead of waking her, I reached for my jacket, my fingers tightening around the familiar fabric. It was warm from my body heat, heavy but comfortable, something that had become part of me over the years. Without thinking much about it, I moved to drape it over her shoulders, figuring she’d be more comfortable that way.

Except…

The second the fabric brushed against her, her eyes snapped open.

In a blur of motion, she moved.

A blade materialized in her grip, the silver edge gleaming in the dim light, and in the next heartbeat, she lunged. Her reflexes were fast, honed from years of training, years of battle. Her instincts screamed attack first, question later.

I was faster.

With a flicker of movement, I teleported to the opposite corner of the room, my expression flat as I watched the tip of her sword slice through the air where my wrist had been moments ago.

My jacket, however, wasn’t so lucky.

The blade pierced right through it, leaving a gaping hole in the fabric before she realized what was happening.

Puriel blinked, still half in battle mode, her sword hovering mid-air as her brain caught up to reality. "Uh… Azrael?"

I stared at her. Stared at my ruined jacket. Then back at her.

"Don’t ‘Uh, Azrael?’ me!" I snapped, my arms crossing over my chest. "You just made a hole in my jacket!"

She blinked again, then glanced down at the torn fabric, her sword slowly lowering. "Oh…" She cleared her throat, rubbing the back of her neck. "Oops?"

"Oops?!" I repeated, my voice rising. "Do you know how much it costs?"

"I thought you were a demon!" she defended, looking only mildly guilty. "You can’t just sneak up on people like that!"

"I wasn’t sneaking! I was trying to be nice!"

She gave me a skeptical look. "Nice? You?"

I scowled. "Yes, me!" I pointed at the ruined jacket still hanging off her chair. "Clearly, that was a mistake."

Puriel exhaled, rolling her shoulders before fully retracting her sword, the gleaming blade vanishing in a flicker of divine energy. "It was an accident," she muttered, though she still had the audacity to sound like she wasn’t entirely sorry.

I teleported over and grabbed my jacket from where it hung, inspecting the damage. A clean slice, straight through the fabric. Great. Just great. I muttered under my breath before placing my hand over the tear, activating my Devil’s Craft skill. The material shimmered, the fibers knitting back together like the cut had never happened.

Puriel watched, arms crossed. "Handy trick."

I rolled my eyes. "It wouldn’t have been necessary if someone hadn’t been so jumpy."

She didn’t respond to that, only shifting her weight slightly. A moment passed before I finally turned my full attention back to her, my jacket now fixed and draped over my shoulder.

"So?" I arched a brow. "What are you doing here, Puriel? Do you miss me? Or are you trying to play the wife waiting for her husband to come home?"

Her lips pressed into a thin line, and for a second, I thought she was going to hit me. But instead of answering, she stepped forward—too close—her piercing eyes locked onto mine.

Then she sniffed me.

I frowned. "What?"

She didn’t respond immediately, instead tilting her head slightly as she inhaled again, her expression shifting from curiosity to displeasure.

Her frown deepened. "I smell wine. And… demon perfume."

I smirked slightly. "Succubus perfume," I corrected lazily. "I just slept with my secretary, then took a dip in my wine bathtub."

She went still for half a second. Not enough for most people to notice. But I did.

Her expression was carefully blank, but her eyes…

Something flickered there.

Something close to irritation.

Something close to jealousy.

Interesting…

Puriel exhaled sharply through her nose before stepping back. "You reek," she muttered, as if that was the only thing bothering her.

I smirked. "Oh? You care?"

"Of course not," she snapped a little too quickly. "I just don’t want my presence associated with whatever filth you were rolling around in."

I chuckled. "Sounds like jealousy to me."

She rolled her eyes. "Don’t flatter yourself."

I took a deliberate step toward her, invading her space this time. She didn’t move back, but I saw her jaw tighten slightly, her fists clenching at her sides.

"Then why are you here, Puriel?" I asked, my voice dropping slightly. "If you’re not playing the jealous wife, then what are you doing sleeping in my room?"

Her lips parted slightly, but she hesitated.

‘Got you.’

I leaned in a little closer. "If you wanted a turn, all you had to do was ask."

This time, she did react.

Her wings flared slightly, and before I could blink, her hand was on my chest, pushing me back. Not too hard, but enough to create distance.

"Don’t be disgusting," she muttered.

I laughed, shoving my hands into my pockets. "So dramatic."

She sighed, clearly done with me, before shaking her head. "I didn’t come here to deal with you. I was waiting."

"For?"

Her eyes flicked up to mine again, her usual sharpness returning. "Information."

I quirked a brow. "Information?"

She nodded. "Something is happening, Azrael."

Now that got my attention.

My smirk faded just slightly. "Go on."

Puriel didn’t hesitate. "Demons. They were attacking this place while you were gone."

I frowned. "You sure?" My voice came out skeptical, my arms crossing over my chest. "I left one of my tentacles here. If anything happened, I should’ve known about it."

She exhaled sharply, clearly annoyed. "Near here," she corrected. "Not in the academy. They attacked a park close by."

That made me pause. A park? "Wait… the park?" I narrowed my eyes. "The last park where the demons chased me when I was in my human disguise?"

She nodded. "Yes."

I tilted my head slightly, considering. "Well… that’s a bit far. You can’t exactly say it was ‘near’ here."

Puriel pressed her lips together in irritation. "Near enough."

I hummed, running a hand through my hair. "Still…" My voice lowered slightly. "That means it’s starting again, huh?"
