evocative atmosphere

https://evocativeatmosphere.bandcamp.com/

in september 2012, just as always happens in september (at least before global warming ruined the true essence of the 4 seasons) there was a very specific day that marks the start of autumn. and I don't mean the autumnal equinox, but there always is one day when you go outside in the  morning and you can feel it in the air that autumn is truly coming around the corner. the first glimpses of crisp autumnal air that let you know that summer won't be back for another year. these transitions into the new seasons are always extremely beautiful, and well "evocative". I remember after school walking outside with my friend and vividly thinking the atmosphere outside was an "evocative atmosphere". I thought this would be a nice band name for my friend and mine band "born an abomination" because I never actually liked that name at all. but I suppose I decided I should just make it my own concept. this is how evoative atmosphere was born. every song on this album was recorded in it's entireey in septe, mber 2012

there are n o lyrics to share I was just singing sounds. the guitar riff that repeats thrgoughout most of the first half I came up with sometime in 2010 when I was 13. the title refers to pure juvenescent innoence and remembering the sweet feeling of feeling the purest love when I was only so young. if you read my posts about "aevilian" (which was recorded basically during the same time) I was very obsessed with my own nostalgia and reminiscing on my childhood, dwelling infinitely on how pure i felt in my heart compared to my present day damian at 15 years old.

for the lyrics I took an old poem I had written in 2010 (i believe november) or somewhere around there. I don't remember what I was sepcificially thinking about when writing the lyrics but they were probably a stream of conciousness coming directly from a pure place with no thought filter. you can tell how inspired I was by AFI in these lyrics (listening to AFI when i was a kid planted the seed in me to write poetry and enjoy poetry)

"Remember, after night sky faded away, throughout days all dreaming that took place was only to pray this would never end. Only beginning was being aware that I was wide awake, and at least this time a voice could escape, it wouldn’t. It’s still impossible to see. There wouldn’t be any light coming through a roof, a ceiling couldn’t stand up without walls. All there is to see is walls. There’s a vague feeling that there is a road, it’s difficult to understand it. It would be easier if it glistened, eyes weren’t meant to hear. I don’t know if I’m looking back or forth. Backwards seems to be an only way I can recognize, but it’s not something to look at. As we all walk through piles of leaves on a curved path, it’s not one direction, everyone goes a different way. If this ground is a mirror it’s easier to get lost. If you listen closely you can here whispers screaming, and they echo, just to be heard twice. The road is like stars, as they collide, dust falls slowly, now it consumes me, and now I’m awake."

" the vineyard and the dark grey forest"

the title talks about one of the most intense experiences I had in the autumn of 2011. I won't go into detail but I was in a vineyard and there were forests surrounding it. I want to clarify that "dark grey" doesn't actually describe the color of the time place and moment,  it was steeped in a v ery sepcific color. but for whatever reason in september 2012 I decided to describe this moment in that way

the riff at 8:29 i came up with when i was 11. i remember sitting in my room writing that a long time ago
