the work

Hey friends. This painting of George Floyd went up on instagram today. I'm working on a bit of a longer comic to post here just for the Patreon fam about the Black Lives Matter movement and some of the things it's already taught me but wanted to post it here too since this subject is (rightly) top of mind.

I hadn't posted any comics over on insta just because it felt better to focus on learning. I found a bunch of new resources and accounts to follow, organizations to donate to, and BIPOC who have been doing the heavy lifting dismantling systemic racism and have been generous enough to share their knowledge.

It's barely scratching the surface but I am in SUCH a privileged position to be able to educate myself and try to be a better ally. Your support is a big part of what makes it possible for me to do that. I'll share a few of the resources I've found helpful in the upcoming comic but I wanted to say a quick thank you to you all. I'm so grateful for this community.

Be well

That's super kind of you Kina, thank you. Yeah portraits are interesting and this one was so emotionally loaded. Gouache is good for that though. It let's you take your time...
