Inktober week one is DONE!

Ohhh patrons what have I gotten myself in to.

OKAY okay okay. SO week one of Inktober is complete. If you didn't catch my previous post, quick recap: Inktober is an annual challenge that artists all over the work participate in. There's a prompt list put out by the creator and the idea is that you create a drawing each day based on the prompts and post them for every day of October. Great way to build a daily drawing practice and a super fun community to spend time with. You can learn more about Inktober here. 

I love this challenge, and I used Inktober 2017 to create a story, completely ignoring the prompts and just posting a page per day. In 2018, I upped the ante by using the prompts and incorporating them into a storyline. THIS year, I wanted to challenge myself to use a medium that intimidated me and I landed on textile design and painting which is HARD. I also wanted to use tote bags that I already owned and Tshirts that I bought second hand in an effort to give these items new life and keep them out of the waste stream. More on that in this video.  

Here we are finished WEEK ONE and the first prompts actually turned out pretty cute! They are also slated to be part of your November Perk Packs! All Patrons in the HyperNova Tier will get their choice of on T-shirt and one Tote, and every one in the SuperNova tier will get to pick one item (T-shirt OR tote) to be included in your November mail outs. Don't worry, we'll post them all before you have to pick BUT keep an eye on the weekly recaps here and maybe start eyeing up your favourites, either for yourself or as a gift!

Thanks for coming along on this madcap challenge. I have to admit, it definitely changed to game to try to use these prompts for textile design but I love pushing the boundaries and trying to get out of my comfort zone. Your support is a huge part of what makes that possible. Huge thank you to all of you for creating a space where we can take creative risks. You are all a perfectly fitting T-shirt. Big Love.
