Evil Dead (1981) full commentary ft Movies in Depth
Added 2024-10-09 01:43:56 +0000 UTCI think we were both expecting something a little different here but a goofy over-the-top gory horror is ALWAYS fun! I liked how it both created tropes we still see today but also defied a lot of the ones that existed at the time. And admittedly, I'm kind of glad I wasn't alone 😆

We'll see how it does! I totally forgot Raimi did Hercules and Xena, which is bizarre because I went through a whole Xena thing back in the day.

Bruce Campbell was funny to see in Hercules and Xena as the same character. He kinda plays a similar character in the one season cancellation of Jack of All Trades. If you thought this one was goofy I think part 2 from having a bigger budget is a bit goofier with some nice effects and then Army of Darkness is just a lotta fun.

2024-10-09 17:42:44 +0000 UTCThe start of the Evil Dead saga! I actually started with ED2 in the mid 80s which included a stripped down version of ED1 in the first half hour (because the producers didn't own the rights to the first one?) and I didn't realise that the girl who was SA'd by a tree was Ash's sister for more than 30 years (until the splattertastic Ash Vs Evil Dead TV show) That show is a delight (and filmed in NZ, the old Sam Raimi stomping grounds from Hercules and other low budget shows.)
