Breaking Bad S5 E16 FINALE

Well, this is it, we finally made it to the end of Breaking Bad! The first* and longest running series I've done here on Patreon to date and I'm a little overwhelmed that we're actually here. So many thanks to everyone who has joined me for this long journey, whether you were here from day 1 or joined along the way πŸ’œ

So sorry about the babbling ending, I was pretty much in shock for awhile afterward, I'm not even entirely sure what I said, to be honest πŸ˜… But I'd love to know what you think - about the finale, the show overall, what we should watch next, hit me with it!

*Attack on Titan may have been posted first, idk, but they were like the same week

My apologies..not a link to Better Call Saul..but it is the real final episode, so..

Hey, I just saw Cinebinge doing El Camino movie that is on Netflix just fyi if you decide to do I guess would be the crossover to Better Caul Saul..my memory fades..Im gonna watch their reaction and then I will know exactly where on the timeline it fits.

its a fun show and good finale. Personally I enjoyed Better Call Saul more but both are good. Jesse Plemmons plays such a good bad guy

I love that Jesse refused to kill him. It fit his character because he isn't a cold blooded killer and he knows it now. Jesse's final act was on his own terms and I love that for him and I too think Walt was satisfied with that. I sympathized with Walt's situation but I honestly never liked him πŸ˜‚ I did have a point of no return, where I washed my hands of him, and that was Mike. After Brock I knew the character was doomed but Mike was where I said "nah, just die."

Lmao. Yep

Dana Regan

yes, that's what I meant, he was fantastic at the chemistry but terrible at being a kingpin. I mean, he destroyed the empire Fring built over two decades in what, six months? 🀣

Rhetorical Thrill

it was spot on!

Rhetorical Thrill

OHHH you're right, I forgot that he didn't actually use ricin on Brock πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ Well good, fuck Lydia.

You are so right about the difference in doing bad things and being a bad person. The guy I knew in the Bay Area, yes, he made methylamine based meth and sold it..but none of the people around him started disappearing or were killed. He was a nice guy. We can discuss semantics about what happens to the buyers in their lives but let's face it..they made that choice and there was plenty of other providers to sell to them..so that's not really on him. Mainly, it's a dangerous world involved with meth if you think you are dependent on it. If anything, I think Walt WANTED it to be like that guy, but ego, resentment, offendedness were his downfall. I loved you reaction to this series. I'm still catching up but saw no harm in the reaction to the ending. There is a movie, if I remember right, connecting this and Better Call Saul called El Camino. I loved that too. Take care.

Dana Regan

There is no antidote for ricin. She will die in hospital or at home. That's why Soviet spies used it for killing with tips of umbrellas...you would never know that's where a poison came from.

Dana Regan

Badfinger's "Baby Blue" was such a nice touch. The first lyrics mirrored his life in meth, and of course, the color of it. This is my favorite series of all time.

Dana Regan

No, Walt was good at the actual cooking..8% higher quality than guys in California..but Jesus H Christ terrible at all of the logistics. 3 years Walt ran his operation in various dumb ways and went down. I just heard a guy in Northern California finally retired..did it like Walt, never used his own product. 1989 to 2022..never busted for 33 years.. so yes, in that sense, Walt sucked at it. lmao

Dana Regan

Her too. lol stevia overdose. lol

Dana Regan

I didn't like them either, so I'm good with it. lol

This was a near perfect finale! I was late joining the show during it's initial TV run, I think I joined while the 4th season was still running. I think I told you the show was described to me as "Mr Chips becomes Scarface" which I feel is an accurate description. We, the audience had so much sympathy for Walter when the show began, it came as quite a shock to realise that we were rooting for the bad guy. We made so many excuses for Walt- but he was always the same guy. This episode he was finally honest with the people he loved, and did what he could to help them. I don't have a lot of sympathy for Gretchen and Elliot either and the reveal of Badger and Skinny Pete with laser pointers was hilarious. Lydia being taken down from greed and Stevia addiction (and stupidly not changing her routine in her criminal enterprise) was perfect for her character. Jesse strangling Todd was almost biblical, and Uncle Jack's end was the perfect FU. I think Walt wanted to give Jesse some peace at the end, but he was satisfied with Jesse's decision.
