Chapter 66: Gamma Strengthening Potion

Adam never thought his luck could be so good. A simple outing to observe Dr. Banner had somehow led to the system bestowing him with the opportunity of a lifetime—a gamma strengthening potion. As he contemplated his decision, he found himself caught between excitement and anxiety.

The potential this potion held was immense. The system’s assurances of safety were reassuring, but Adam knew better than to trust blindly. Human body modification had always been a dangerous endeavor. Few survived unscathed, and those who did, like Captain America, were rare exceptions.

He studied the vial of the potion closely, its silver-white sheen and seamless construction a testament to its otherworldly origin. Adam couldn’t help but marvel at the craftsmanship but suppressed his curiosity about the material’s origin. The system had labeled the substance unique and beyond replication. It was clear this wasn’t something he could casually experiment with.

He prepared meticulously. The lab was sealed, gamma ray emitters powered up, and a stock of high-concentration Extremis stood ready for emergency use. Adam left nothing to chance.

When the preparation was complete, he held the vial of gamma strengthening potion in his hand and hesitated. Could he take this leap of faith? The risk was enormous, but so were the rewards. “Stress the bold to death and starve the timid,” he muttered to himself, his resolve hardening.

Taking a deep breath, Adam downed the potion in one go. He immediately lay on the table as the gamma ray emitters activated, bathing him in an intense radiation field. For a few moments, nothing happened. Then, a wave of searing heat coursed through his body, like molten lava flowing through his veins.

Pain erupted everywhere. His muscles, bones, and cells felt as though they were being ripped apart and rebuilt simultaneously. Adam clenched his fists, his teeth grinding together as he fought to endure the agony. Every nerve in his body screamed in protest, and sweat drenched him as his body contorted against the table.

“Skynet…” he gasped through the pain. “Monitor my vitals… and don’t… let me die.”

The AI’s calm voice offered little comfort, but Adam focused on it like a lifeline. Minutes dragged on like hours, the relentless torment pushing him to the brink. Just as he thought he could endure no more, the pain began to recede, replaced by a soothing warmth that spread through his body.

Adam lay there, his breathing ragged but steady. The ordeal was over, but something fundamental had changed.

“Skynet,” he whispered, his voice hoarse. “Vitals?”

“All readings are stable, Master,” the AI reported. “Your body has undergone significant changes. You should inspect yourself.”

Summoning the strength to sit up, Adam felt the difference immediately. He was heavier, stronger, more solid. He glanced down at his hands, which now seemed larger and more defined. The transformation was complete.
