I loved this video. Great ending! There was also a weird little head shake from robo-Lily at 30:02, perhaps the AI influenced by the cold, but also quite affecting. I liked her. Edit: it took me a while to understand why, but I think I read that weird little head shake as vulnerability; my reaction could be used to manipulate me for sure.

Maybe there's minor comfort in the fact that weaknesses in the human brain are already being exploited. If we're already being "brain hacked" by advertising and propaganda, at least the intent is nothing new. That's...something?

2023-12-21 20:27:25 +0000 UTCExcellent video. Last Christmas my parents bought me one of those Roomba-like automated cleaners and I instinctively *hated* it and I couldn't put my finger on why. I knew it had a slight uncanny valley quality to it, but (almost a year later) I think this video has put a fine point on how its design is manipulative and we're still in a place where that is intuitively identifiable.

But the current batch of corporate fakes don't deserve are sympathy anymore than the phone answering system that tells you they value your business and would you please stay on the line and that a representative will be with you shortly.
