Have you used Gumroad to buy any digital content?
Added 2021-11-12 20:12:45 +0000 UTCI am *FINALLY* setting up a gumroad account, and I wanted to know if you guys have used the website to buy any goodies. If the majority of you guys answers YES, I might switch using Gumroad instead of Patreon. Comment if you like/dislike the website as a customer. I personally like the platform.
So please vote for this question!!

If you open a gumroad you could post your old packs and sell psd files or tutorials along with them for extra money on top of the base price and keep patreon for new and upcoming projects you put out instead ^^

2021-11-15 02:52:12 +0000 UTCI suggest putting old rewards on gumroad, and using patreon primarily. Ive seen a lot of artists do that

2021-11-13 07:58:49 +0000 UTCI'm using Gumroad a lot and really appreciate when artists make old Patreon rewards available for purchase this way. (As a collector it always makes me want to cry when beautiful artworks are lost/unavailable/unpurchasable for good.) There's a huge number of well known artists that use Gumroad so you will be in good company.

2021-11-13 05:29:43 +0000 UTC"a lot of artists I follow are gathered" it's a good point. Thanks for your opinion!

2021-11-12 21:30:29 +0000 UTCI agree with the others—I’ve only really used Gumroad to buy reward packs I’ve missed that I really want. Patreon is much easier for me and it’s also where a lot of artists I follow are gathered, meaning that it’s likely I would fall off following artists if they moved entirely to Gumroad. I agree with what was said above; packs put out on Patreon with prior rewards being available on Gumroad for people who missed them.

2021-11-12 20:27:34 +0000 UTCOhh, I see your point. Now I wonder how many of my patrons are subbed my page to purely show their support. I am so glad to have a supporter like you.

2021-11-12 20:23:32 +0000 UTCThere's another artist I enjoy supporting that has something similar. What they do is basically what you have right now for Patreon, and if someone wants something from a past reward, they have to buy it on Gumroad for X amount of money.

2021-11-12 20:17:48 +0000 UTCI've only ever used Gumroad to buy a reward pack I missed. Maybe only one or two items? So while I answered yes, I have to honestly say that you'd fall off my radar. The lower tier offerings and autocharge of Patreon lets me fit a number of artists and creators into my monthly budget. For most of those artists, I don't really subscribe for the benefits. I sub to show support and increase their patron count. Gumroad's product-purchase orientation doesn't really fit my approach.

2021-11-12 20:15:54 +0000 UTCGumroad PROs: - You buy a product once, and you can access the content ANYTIME. - You can buy old/missed rewards. - I put an illustration pack once, and do not have to delete it after a month like I am doing on Patreon. - I can create more than one pack per month, and you can choose the pack you like. Gumroad CONs: - After you bought a $3 tier pack, you have to pay $5 to get a higher tier content (instead of paying 2 dollars). - Not that popular platform like Patreon. - I do not see the number of current supporters (this could be a PRO). - The star rating system scares me.
