These episodes easily had the BEST and WORST moments of Made in Abyss to date like wow.

I think assuming that the Abyss is an artificial construct of some kind (maybe once we reach the Golden City at the bottom, it will turn into tags: Sci-fi, Post-apocalypse. Would make sense if Reg is a citizen, since they clearly have sci-fi tech to make cyborgs and full on bots w/ deatomizers n shieet), that the fucker was likely forcibly converted into a blob & someone else was likely converted into the whistle, as a means of sort of a public transport between the layers. Like I could totally see this kind of shit being a type of setting/story end-game point in my favorite sci-fi sub-genre ever, that is the pseudo-fantasy category
Also yeah, the Cradle of Desire type artifacts are quite machine-like when it comes to fulfilling their purpose. They grant you what you wish for, but only to the exact data amount you feed them at stable levels, no more no less. Thus since Irumyuui presumably wanted 3 things (as has been theorized based on the results), i.e she missed the pet bunny, her own insecurity as to not being able to give birth, and while being wracked w/ excruciating pain, combined into a single stable(ish) Wish, which the Cradle of Desire granted to the exact data amount provided: since Irumyuui is a kid, she has no idea how babies are born (hence why it just spawns from her chest from the area the egg is at), nor does she have 100% knowledge of how biology works, hence why they are just meat blobs without any type of internal organs, just rudimentary facial features. Thus the Cradle fused all of her wishes and basically turned off her pain receptors, and it started to modify her biomass to be optimally suited for birthing every single day specifically those rabbit-type critters, but since Irumyuui was only angsting about the birth part, her wish didn't account for what comes after, so the Cradle of Desire just was "aight, they don't need to survive, because she only wished to give birth, nothing more". Such a shame that artificial lifeforms don't count as "alive" from the criteria of the Abyss, otherwise having an AI cheese through this artifact via exploits would be the optimal way of utilizing them, rather than an unstable host like an organic lifeform is
Also someone did quick mafs that based on Ganja being in the village on 6th Layer for 150 years, at least 1950 years has passed on the surface (as one of the recap movies had some few lines of additional content, which is where we find out Orth was founded 1950 years ago), so they calculated that since Riko is like 12 or w/e, this should mean that Lyza has only been on her Last Dive for some 10 months from her POV, probably even less if we account for 7th Layer having even more of a time dilation effect than 6th Layer's 150 years being at least 1950 years on Surface Layer. So since 6th Layer has a time dilation effect of 13x, we could prolly add at least 3x more to that, so 16x multiplier compared to Surface Layer
