RTTF Trading

What is RTTF Trading?

RTTF Trading is the idea to make a profit from RTTF cards due to the hype before the matchups. This trading method is very similar to OTW/Headliner trading and I recommend reading that guide for more specific details. I will show the similarities and differences in this guide.

This guide also includes RTTK which is very similar to RTTF but for the group stages instead of the knock-out stages.

Similarities with OTW/Headliner Trading

Similarities are very easy. You can expect some hype before the game just like on OTW and Headliner cards, that’s why it's smart to look for these in advance of the games and buy before everyone else. Selling in the hype is key again!

Same with scoring goals. If a team is winning or surprisingly winning you can see the card prices going up. That’s an effective way to make coins if you are fast enough just like OTW or Headliner Trading.

However, this technique gained a lot of popularity in the last few years and expected wins are not as possible as they used to be. We recommend using this technique on surprising results as they offer more potential profit and a higher jump in price.

Key Differences to OTW/Headliner Trading

First of all, the card isn’t locked to a specific player but a club. That means, the RTTF Player doesn’t need to score or assist any goals, it's enough if the club wins or meets other requirements for an upgrade.

Another difference is the way it upgrades. RTTF are known to get upgrades based on their wins as a club. There will be more information with the release of RTTF and we will discuss details after the release.

It's also a higher-budget method as most RTTF cards usually hold a high price throughout the year. On top of it, you must buy early to make the most out of this method! If your budget is limited you most likely going to end up in an Opportunity Cost Trap and miss out on other great trades. Buying windows could be as early as 2-3 weeks ahead of the next matchup.

But the biggest difference is probably the price drop. If an RTTF Club loses and doesn’t advance to the next stage, the RTTF Card can heavily drop in price. RTTFs are known to have inflated and high value because people value the upgrade potential before the upgrade even happens. If the card fails to meet the upgrade requirements it immediately loses that additional value. Throughout the years it's very common to see drops as strong as 50% of the card value.

We don’t recommend any gambling with RTTF cards because the drop in value is way too high for us to risk it. The risk-to-reward ratio is rarely worth it and we stick with trading techniques around the hype or after a surprising result.

Buy before the Hype

Buying before the hype is the most common and safest way to use RTTF for trading. We will cover these buys in our normal trading posts, but I also want to show you why we picked these buys.

We usually post our buy recommendations around 1-2 weeks before the game time so you have enough time to look for decent deals. The early buy time is required to get cheap prices and to be ahead of the hype. It’s a bit risky as you hold through multiple content releases and we will always let you know about the potential risk we have regarding any new content.

The first selling window is around 4-5 days before the match day. That’s when we usually see a stronger rise on these RTTF cards and people slowly taking the gamble. The demand for RTTF increases as people want to gamble or think there is more profit potential from just the hype. We aim to sell in this hype window.

We don’t take the gamble because of the mentioned risk-to-reward ratio. We are just using the hype to build our coins in a much safer and more consistent way. That’s the magic behind this and that’s what we always aim for.

Summary

- Surprising results can create price jumps

- Related to the Club and not the Player
