What is TOTW Hype Trading?

TOTW Hype Trading is the idea to make a profit through the hype around the next potential TOTW. I will just talk about the Gold cards in this guide, the next Guide is about OTW and Headliner cards.

When to apply

As we all know, when a real-life Football Player has a really good game, he has a shout for the next TOTW, and with him being in the TOTW it removes the Gold Card from the packs for a week. While being out of packs for a week, he has the chance to increase in price!

But what we aim here is to get on the Gold Card between multiple buy and sell windows to make a quick short-term profit instead of holding the card for a week! This is the key concept behind the trading method.

Buy and Sell Windows

I want to make this as general as possible, but it's not as easy to pinpoint as you think. I will still show you some common patterns!

The most common pattern for this method is the spike and fall after a good performance. You can see a card going high after a good game but then start to slowly go lower again. The spike is a good sell window and the drop after the game is a good buy window. In most cases, it recovers again and continues to rise as more Traders are talking about it!

As most games are on the weekend, the Squad Battle Rewards are another good buy time for potential TOTW Cards! The supply allows us to look out for some low prices around Sunday and Monday.

Monday to Tuesday is another potential sell window. These days, most TOTW predictions are getting posted and people start to buy the cards to make a profit, but they are already too late and we sell them for higher prices to late buyers.

Tuesday to Wednesday is another buy window. This depends on the content, but sometimes we get a Pack SBC and the market sees some supply. Looking for some low prices then is also a solid idea! If there are no low prices then we most likely skip it.

The last sell window is just before the TOTW drops. Around 1-6h before the TOTW is a good point to just cash out in the hype without risking much! If you are confident with your buys, you can even hold on until 6 pm for the announcement and sell them straight after knowing the TOTW.

This is the best way to explain it without making straight rules, there will be exceptions and sometimes it will move differently but this is the rough outline of how the market reacts on different days.

Special Cases

Long-term Profit

There will be cases when I recommend buying a card and holding it for a longer time. This is rare but the profit can be very decent! If there’s an opportunity, I will let you know!

Surprising TOTW Cards

If there's any surprising TOTW card that wasn’t in any Predictions, you have to be very fast at 6 pm on Wednesday, or it's not worth it to buy. Especially around the first TOTWs, people go stupid and buy at very high prices. If there are any leaks then you can apply the same strategy but it’s a lot riskier as people usually don’t share leaks before buying themselves.

Buying after the release

If you are looking to buy TOTW Golds after the release then I recommend checking the time between 6 pm and 11 pm. That’s kinda the dead time nobody cares about the TOTW while others try to sell again. That allows them to go a bit lower again before being out of packs for a whole week. Sometimes this 5-6h window is super low and it allows you to grab some decent deals.

Leaked TOTW

It’s a bit tougher with Leaks. Exclusive leaks from this Discord are easier to trade with as we don’t have that many buyers and we can slowly buy to sell later with the announcement.

If it’s a public leak, it's almost impossible and most of the time not even worth it. Leaks usually go through some trader’s hand just like our Discord and people buy before everyone else.
