When you meet a fox
Added 2024-11-22 04:14:59 +0000 UTCMany people go their whole lives without ever seeing a wild fox. If you do happen to meet one, just stay calm, observe it and treasure the experience, maybe take a photo or video on your cell phone.
Don't throw a rock at it to chase it off. If you do throw anything at it, you'd better have bad aim...don't actually hit the poor thing and make it yelp. Don't give it a reason to desire revenge.
Because when you keep walking down that trail, probably satisfied with yourself for driving off an opportunistic little nuisance, you might find yourself getting uncharacteristically sleepy, not just tired, but literally having trouble keeping your eyes open. And you'll slowly lower yourself to the ground, disoriented, eventually collapsing onto your back into a dreamless sleep.
It'll be drafty when you wake up, but you won't exactly be cold - the new fur coat will take care of that. Specific sensitive points on your chest might feel the chill, though...you'll probably have more of those than you're used to having. As you look down at your changed body, touching it incredulously with your new paw pads, you might notice a familiar face staring up at you...sniffing at you...wondering how you feel about foxes now, and whether he's made himself a new playmate.
