In my mind I had an idea for a pose and for the first part of the process, you can see that there was a nice counter-balance with the shoulder and hips. Since I started to adjust angles of some of the body parts(mainly the upper torso), I began to lose the counter-balance I had in the initial sketch without realizing it. The middle sketch, I let it sit for a day an came back to it later and realized what had disappeared, the counter-balance. At the time thinking to myself, "how did I not notice this sooner?". I dont have any references to go off of, so I have to work it out in my head. The most I could find was poses that were somewhat similar but were nowhere near what I was looking for.
Before proceeding to colour, Im thinking of bringing the angle of her left leg in the first sketch back into the third image, and/or change the angle of the shoulders and pelvis to bring more movement into the character.
If you want to bring more movement into a character, make sure there is counter-balance especially in the angle of the shoulders/pelvis and also the direction they face in.
