Updates - Bear Traps and Poison Gas

Some new updates for the game. First the bear traps:

The killer throws traps down as he searches the house for you. Get caught in a trap and you're totally stuck until you look down and tap escape to reopen the trap and get away

You can also disable traps with the screwdriver ahead of time because getting caught when the killer is chasing you could be a death sentence. Of course you can jump over or try to squeeze around them but you're taking a bigger risk and making more noise which could attract the killer/

Right now, the traps have no lasting status effect but slower movement & blood loss are something I'm considering for the full version. As well as you being able to pickup traps once they're disabled and use them back against the killer. 

I'm trying to add as some more items and tools so you need to make tough choices about your loadout. Take the lighter? The screwdriver (which has multiple uses at this point)? the hex wrench in case you come across a locked cabinet or door? A weapon? Another puzzle item you need? A first aid kit? You'll have to chose wisely based on your play style.

One of the big game design challenges has been balancing the vents: how can the killer attack if he's too big to fit in the vents (you could use run in a vent every timer you're chased). The answer is suffocating you out with gas.

If the killer sees you enter a vent or notices you inside (because you forgot to put away the lighter) he'll run to a gas button and trigger it. You'll have limited oxygen left to find an exit, while the killer runs around the house checking all the openings for you to come out.

It sounds fairly simple, but coding this has been melting my mind. It's mostly finished but still a bit buggy, which I'm spending time trying to iron out and get everything perfect.

Finally, I've been working on a death system for when you're hiding under beds and the killer sees you. I commissioned Drake Kaz for the animation because animations are my big weakness and he got it done way faster and better than I ever could. It's really tight. Next step is actually coding this to work in game

And I've been getting some help on the props from Toyoka. These are looking sick!



So thats whats been happening the last few days. The next version is again delayed. Realistically I'd expect it towards the end of next week. Been a little held up with adding features to the Ai, but I think it's going to be a far deeper and fulfilling experience.
