Money Game - Episodes 7-8 FINALE REACTION
Added 2024-08-23 21:44:15 +0000 UTCThis show went from chaotic and fun to straight up depression 😭
PS. I've read discussions about the ending and the characters.
Here's the highlighted comment on reddit, I cut it down to include the important info and bolded the REALLY important stuff:
"This was totally unscripted. The rules are based on the webtoon with the same name, but of course it was modified to be acceptable in real life.
The showrunner is a popular youtuber whose main content is answering weird, interesting, or silly questions people might be pondering.
The drama during the show stems mainly from episode 5. The background for this is that #1 and #4 were mostly trying to take the game more seriously, not really participating on all the drinking and stuff. They naturally kind of became the outsiders. #1, feeling threatened by the meeting where they discuss the "quit smoking" plan in the locked room, decides to buy the Day 8 rule information. This plays out as you see and finally comes to the argument at the end of episode 5.
This results in the girls (with #6 as the leader) getting emotional and using the rule that if 4 people quit the game on their own, the game will end and no one gets the prize. This rule was put in place to prevent everyone from quitting except a few people to save money and splitting the winnings after the show. Using the rules to your advantage within the game is fine, but using it against the production staff and forcing the game to end is not a good look. Keep in mind that this act basically dooms the show runner, the production staff he worked with, and the multiple sponsors involved.
The main villain after the show becomes #6.
It is revealed that the girls went to #6's house after leaving the show in episode 5.
The PD, show runner, and #1 went to their house to persuade them to come back, because so much was riding on the show. They kneeled and asked them to come back.
The fucked up thing is that the girls decided on the plan to split the winnings among themselves (#6, first #2 girl, #5, #8) during this period where they left the show.
Splitting the winnings isn't against the rule, but doing it outside the game, where even the producers wouldn't have known if #8 didn't fuck up and leak it during episode 8, is pretty shitty.
The funny thing is #6 immediately decides to quit the show, using her guilt from betraying #7 as an excuse.
I'm sure everyone watching saw how stupid this looked, crying about the plan that she herself made. When you consider that she had already secured her cut from the winnings, it seems like she just left the rest of the days in confinement to the other girls and went out lol.
Now, we really get into the interpersonal drama. #6 and the girls were quite sure that the villains after episode 5 would be #1 and #4. In #6's mind, she was the hero, who fought against the sneaky #1 who tried to screw everyone. She also viewed #4's comments during the fight to be over the line and that he would be seen as the asshole in the whole thing.
Most of the contestants were doing review videos/live streams on their own channels, usually in collaboration with other contestants. For the crucial episode 5, where viewers were most likely to pick sides and talk shit about whoever they thought was wrong,
#1 insisted that this episode must be reviewed together (#1 #4 #7 #6) to show a good image to the viewers that everything is cool and it was just a game.
#6 was also getting a lot of flak at this point, and the guys wanted to help "dry clean" her image.
The girls, thinking that the release of episode 5 would paint them in a good light and send #1 and #4 into "hell" (basically destroy their whole career), decide to not collab review with the guys and do it on their own.
The general consensus is that #1's actions is just playing smart within the rules of the game. Both #4 and the girls said equally fucked up shit to each other, but #4 remained calm and tried to win with logic, while the girls just got emotional talked shit to him. #6's image is really in the shitter at this point.
There are things going on behind the scenes all this time between #6 and #4 that was causing strife between them.
Still, #6's image was so shitty at this point, that the guys finally did the episode 7 review stream with her to saver her. Things seemed ok, but after the show, she gets into a fight with the viewers and starts backstabbing #4 and talking shit.
4 hears about this and finally decides enough is enough and basically owns her in this internet drama. He gains like 800k subscribers, she loses everything. Korean cancel culture at work. They really hate internet personalities that do "wrong" things lol.
The funny thing is, #6 later makes a rebuttal video, showing her side, but it has the total opposite effect. The rebuttal lacked logical arguments that people could accept. She attacked basically EVERYONE. The production staff, the show runner, the contestants, even her fellow girls team members lol. In fact, a lot of the evidence for the negative shit she did actually comes from her own rebuttal lol. Obviously, this put her in an even worse light. She finally did an interview with another "current issues" youtuber which kind of puts her in a sympathetic light (but still contradictory to a lot of things we saw so far). She has no new videos after this which was like 4 months ago. Her afreeca stream viewers plummeted all the way down. It was just too late to try and right this ship.
So who are the real winners of Money Game? #4 by far gained the most.
He gained a shitload of subscribers and spread his face to the masses. He was a small time youtuber, who mainly spread his name as a guest star on a bigger youtuber's channel before opening his own channel. He was mainly known for talking shit and debating people on a Korean voice talk chatroom thingy. Now, he is the hero of the "Real Money Game."
1 is the second winner. Maybe even the first. He had a terrible image due to doing some shit previously on a different youtube reality show. This whole drama showed that his real character is a ridiculously nice guy. He was the main driving force in trying to help save the girls' image (not just #6). He went from a bad guy to an angel after Money Game.
He also got together with the second #2 girl. They are still a couple. XD"
Obviously don't believe everything you read or see on the Internet, but if there's at least some truth to this, from what I read here, the 4 girls decided to manipulate the show so they all get paid. I know I've heard bad things about korean editing and how it twists the narrative, but this is WILD.
I went from hating #1 and 4, to liking them a lot. I still think 1 needs better hygeine tho lol. But 7 I always rocked with since the beginning 🥰
If the post above is true, then I'm extremely disappointed in those 4 gir
