Lardy ladies in literature #2: Boonyi Kaul (pages 1-3)

Update on the lady wot lunched coming next week. Sorry for the delay with it. I've been working on it every day and I'm making pretty good progress, but there are a few bits to iron out.

In the meantime, I've been wanting to revive this series for absolutely ages (the previous entry was four years ago!) and I was finally inspired to do so by a post about weight gain in "normal" literature on Curvage which mentioned a brief but substantial and well-described example in Salman Rushdie's Shalimar the Clown (I'm off out shortly, but I'll find the link to the Curvage thread tomorrow and add it here).

It was enough to get me to have another go at Rushdie. I tried the Satanic Verses when I was younger but... struggled with it, to say the least!

And to be honest, although I enjoyed Shalimar overall, I was often more motivated by the promised weight gain and references to the character in question than the story itself (it feels more like a history lecture in places). It didn't disappoint, though. The character was right up my street. A vain, sensual, selfish and haughty Kashmiri beauty with a Greek nose and emerald eyes, full of greedy ambition.

The text in the pics is taken directly from the book, with just a small amount of artistic licence in the ordering, and the odd word omitted here and there to make it work in this format.

There'll be three more pics chronicling Boonyi's expansion (her appetite grows to "subcontinental size"), which I'll post over the coming couple of weeks, probably one at a time, with one or two of them exclusive to stuffed tier patrons.

Hope you enjoy the pics! I've got have 5 or 6 other candidates for this lady ladies of lit series, so let me know if it's the sort of thing you'd like to see more of (or don't want to see more of; I won't take offence). If it is, I could do a poll of the candidates to decide who features next. My priorities are still TLWL and Amelia and Kari, but I'm getting much faster in Daz and Photoshop, and I tend to work on pics when the writing part of my brain starts to tire.

Also feel free to suggest other candidates for this series in the comments! I'm always looking for new books to read - and the prospect of a plump character or a bit of weight gain therein always adds to the excitement. 😄
