Super Metroid~

Crocomire's eyes are always easy to spot haha, I guess even from a distance you can see him. But yeah, Super Metroid was always a formative game for me and left a strong impression, so it was kind of fun to recount all of the boss encounters and such. It was cool noticing details like the screaming faces on Draygon. I'm pretty sure Draygon and Phantoon were heavily yokai inspired. Phantoon's initial name was apparently Obakeen + the flaming eyeball motif. I have to wonder if Draygon had some influences from heikegani, with the faces on the carapace and whatnot. Metroid Fusion is super cool too- I really like how there are a lot of horror elements involved in it. Also, I tend to use the fusion shorts when I play as ZSS in Smash lol~

2021-02-02 09:08:30 +0000 UTCWhen I realized that the proportions of the image were close enough to the Super Famicom cover, I had to see if I could fit it in haha- it kinda even worked out that Samus lined up to the logo, and was relatively easy to plug in either way lol

2021-02-01 20:19:36 +0000 UTCNice! I never did play Super Metroid, looked up the bosses though. Draygon is cool having those screaming faces on their forehead. I remember playing Metroid Fusion and thinking how amazing it was at the time. Seems like it would be tricky laying something out like this, especially to fit in these gigantic aliens. I like the Crocomire peeking out there.
