Public News Update
Added 2024-08-23 06:30:14 +0000 UTCSo, good news, bad news, and... regular news? Ambivalent news?
Anyhow, good news: The City That Would Eat the World, book 1 of my new trilogy More Gods Than Stars, is now with beta readers! Initial reactions have been positive, which is a huge relief to me. (Starting a new series has been very anxiety-making, hah.)
Bad news: I'm sure many of you have heard of Apple's app store money grab- they're claiming a huge chunk of all Patreon fees signed up for through their app. Incredibly unethical? Absolutely. Legal? Unfortunately, also yes. If you're already signed up for my Patreon, this doesn't impact you. If you haven't signed up for it yet, and sign up for it literally anywhere but the IOS app, it doesn't affect you. If you sign up for my Patreon on an IOS mobile device using the browser, it doesn't affect you. If you sign up for my Patreon on the IOS Patreon app, it's going to be more expensive. (There is an option where I could have chosen to keep my prices the same for new IOS app signups, and just eaten the cost of the new fees, but I'm not subsidizing Apple's greed.)
Other, ambivalent news: I am way too exhausted to fill my short story buffer back up this month after finishing the new book, so we're doing something a little different this time instead of a short story: The Mage Errant What If!
The Mage Errant What If will take an AMA format, where I'll let patrons at the $3 and 5$ tiers ask me questions about how things might have gone different in the story. What would have happened if Hugh pacted with Bakori? What if Hugh and his friends had accepted Avah's offer of sanctuary during the events of A Traitor In Skyhold, and joined the Radhan? What if Alustin hadn't been caught and arrested by Indris' cult during the events of Jewel of the Endless Erg? Patrons pick the questions, I'll give summaries of the alternate timelines, and maybe some of their branches! (I've been thinking about doing this one for a while, pretty excited about it. This one's strictly non-canon, btw, there's no time travel or crosstime shenanigans in the Aetheriad.)
I'll put a separate post up for the questions for patrons at the $3 and $5 tiers here soon! Please don't ask the questions on this post. The post will be up for a few days before I start answering questions.
More regular news: The final issue of Basilisk Street will go up for Patrons in the next few days as well.

As for the what ifs, NICE! I wrote out a bunch of what if questions when the idea was first floated, so I'll go through those and pick out the actual good ones lol
