Ahoy, you glorious beans! I'm technically not late! I was just waylaid by the fact that this month absolutely snuck up on me. I swear I did actually start working on this a while ago but only just managed to finish now...
Anyway, I present to you February's stickers: BunBun Hearts! π If you'd like to get the sticker sheet and postcard, OR the individual sticker, please adjust to the appropriate tier at ANY time this month (because it's a shorter month anyway)! And don't forget, you can now also gift memberships!
While designing this sticker sheet, I learned yet another NA/UK discrepancy. In NA these candies are usually known as Sweethearts or conversation hearts, but in the UK they are Lovehearts. On top of the shapes being different, they're also packaged quite differently, AND they even taste different -- NA ones are just basically lumps of coloured sugar, but the UK ones are a bit fizzy and tart. Anyway, since I only have the UK versions at hand for reference, I figured I'd go with that design. And frankly I like it better too so there's that lol. Still included a couple of the NA shaped ones though just to cover all the bases!
And now for the ramble forecast...
I have yet to do a retrospective on the new-old way that I've been planning my work in the past month, and I don't want to jinx it or even get ahead of myself...but I gotta say, I think it's been working pretty swell! Every Sunday I plan out the week ahead, and on top of that I have a bigger list of projects that I have going at any given point, with tasks broken down in those. Don't get me wrong, I'm not micromanaging myself (is that even possible?) but knowing myself and the way I work, I do need some kind of structure. So this seems to be working, I guess? We shall see. At any rate, I'm definitely making sure to stay flexible with it, because that's the most important thing at the end of it.
Regarding what I'm actually doing, I'm actually really starting to enjoy video editing. Aside from the fact that I still can't really listen to my own voice for so long (to the point where I accidentally didn't even realise that a graphic animation didn't export properly for a short clip until way later because I didn't watch back the exported video π₯²), it's been a fun and creative challenge. I'm trying to post about 2-3 YouTube Shorts every week, and with each new video, I'm challenging myself to learn a new technique with the editing software.
So far, all the Shorts I've made are little Procreate tips, but I know I can't be doing that forever, and Procreate isn't something that everybody has access to anyway. So if there are any topics or small questions that you think might be good for a future short or video, please do let me know! I'm still not quite at the stage yet where I'm confident that I can do full-on art tutorials, I can of course always share my own method of doing things. Lately I try to remind myself what my 'why' is, and that's to share knowledge with people through my art. Of course, I'm also trying not to denounce my past either, so if there's a way I can merge the technical with the artistic...well, that would be just icing. But one day at a time!
All that to say, I have a new video essay in the works that I'm hoping to post next week! I'm also trying to think of some new areas to expand into, so we'll see how things go. In the meantime, please take care of yourselves and give yourselves the same kindness you give to others, including me. π
