Which kinda clicks with the other Evangelical thing of just, assuming literally everyone in the world who can be saved thinks exactly like them. "Well I love this so think of how well it will spread the Word!" is maybe an exaggeration, because I don't think many even consciously think that part out loud, it's just an internalized equivalence.

2025-06-16 16:49:20 +0000 UTCWhile I agree with what you discussed, my experience being raised by evangelicals, and comparing this to the majority of evangelical-made movies, is that they just love pandering. Most of their movies are absolutely NOT aimed at convincing non-christians to convert. They're about patting the evangelicals on the head and saying "yes, you're right, everyone else is wrong, they're all against you but one day you'll show them." I view the "Bible movie trailer" not as a way of generating interest, but just Christians telling Christians "see, that thing we like IS cool, just like we thought. We're not irrelevant, we're cool."
