I've been super busy this month, and a surprising majority of that was actually involving Rainshade!
Aside from prep and planning involving COVID-19, I've been working hard on building and implementing Rainshade's character creator, and all the sprites required for it. While still unfinished, the entire system that allows your choices to combine into a single sprite sheet without killing me in the process is complete — despite the player having over 256 poses and counting, every head option only needs about 30-40 sprites each, depending on symmetry, with code and shaders assembling the rest for me. I'm hoping to put together a post breaking down how it works in the near future, because I'm kinda shocked it works as well as it does.
Currently, the planned/implemented options are:
Additionally, later in the game you will also be able to customize the appearance of your umbrella, with a few patterns planned.
Being a fairly notable feature of Rainshade, the character customization screen will appear earlier in the the demo than it will in the final game, so folks can have more fun with their character.
