86 (Eighty Six) S1 Episode 17 Reaction

THE REPUBLIC'S FALLEN?! Still crazy to see San Magnolia ablaze, heavily destroyed, and swarming with Legion... though it's well deserved, cause the audacity of its citizens, when even in the middle of this horrible situation, to tell the Eighty Six, who are currently fighting to end the invasion & save lives, to leave the city. I do hope, now that the dust & chaos have settled, that significant portions of the corruption & rot from the military have been permanently cleansed... or if they're still around, that Bloody Regina removes them from the equation entirely, whatever means necessary.

Meanwhile, in an ironic twist of fate, Shin's group must take on a suicide mission, to march into hell (the heart of enemy territory) to take out the Morpho, the "orbital cannon," or die trying, and what will this elite squad be called? ...Spearhead, a name they cannot seem to escape, much like the disdain for the Eighty Six, and while the irony's amusing, it also does piss me off to see how the higher ups treat Shin & his friends...

I can see your point, fair enough, still ironically hilarious & fucked up that Shin's group survived one suicide mission only to be pushed into another since they're a "group that wouldn't be missed," with the biggest differences are what you said. I know Shin's group does have a bit more people around who truly do care for them, among comrades & even those in higher positions of authority too. One could almost say that pride's fuels their desire to live, it's what keeps them going instead of a genuine will to survive & blend in with others beyond their comrades. Pride almost makes up their identity by now, it also keeps them giving into the discrimination and horrible treatment that the 86 can experience from people.

I wouldn’t say the Federacy is doing a Republic, but whilst the parallels are there when it comes to the suicide mission, the difference being is that the 86 have the backing of 3 countries and support with the former compared to the latter that just wanted genocide. Which also brings in another problem when it comes to the 86; they despise people pitying them. A toxic trait they developed from their time in the 86th district, fighting for their pride, leading to alienating them others like the Federacy soldiers. Where the latter would look at this mission as impossible, the former look at it as another day which leads to one of the reasonings for the animosity against them.
