So begins the war, the all-out assault on four countries by the Legion... and Kiriya's making moves as well, much to the shock & awe of us viewers with that after credits scene. I was left speechless, I couldn't comprehend what happened for a few seconds because it was so sudden.
Gran Mur's on the verge of collapse & the Legion's coming knocking on San Magnolia's front door, so it's time for Lena make her move, take control, and open the gates... otherwise we'll lose the entire country, not just the Eighty Six squadrons fighting outside. It was only a matter of time until this situation reached its boiling point, so I'm pleasantly surprised by Jerome's actions, even if his words were incredibly harsh..

Hey, I do my best to catch as many details presented as possible, even when this show's overflowing with so much that it requires multiple viewings per episode to catch everything... but that's a definite strength of the series, it shows how passionate the production staff were, not to mention how good author's writing is! So it's very nice that everyone from Shin's group can sorta specialize on what they do best, with state-of-the-art technology to back them up and not risk breaking down at any given moment unlike the Republic's Juggernauts. I don't always agree with Jerome, admittedly, but I do also seeing where he's coming from, and I know it's incredibly difficult to take that first step and change your ways when you've become stuck in place, so to say. It was like with Annette, he needed to be dug out & pushed forward, whether he liked it or not, and Lena's efforts to make her ideals a reality made it all possible because she didn't give in... and that's why it makes his actions this episode all the more impactful for me, I love seeing characters make the right choice after all. Love the detail about the dirty boots too! Volume 3 content HYPE!

Don’t think many reactors notice it at all, but such a small detail makes such a difference to how the Republic treated the 86 compared to the Federacy, the latter actually caring to give them better equipment. And yes! Karlstahl himself is a broken idealist. He’s seen what his nation and the people have become and after years of being unable to change anything, he’s accepted reality. The scene between him and Lena highlighting how he’s always had her best interest at heart, otherwise how would she have gotten away with her ideal preaching back in cour 1? He was just stuck between his duty and what he cared for. His ideology is vain but he’s a realist. And a small detail to point out, his dirty boots showcasing he was one of the survivors that fought against the Legion back when the war first started. With this episode, volume 2 is complete with the post credit scene concluding said volume. The next episodes will be volume 3 territory; volume 2/3 being one arc split into two.
