Met with my lawyer today, and he let me know that this could go on for many, many months.
However, he also said jail time, while possible, is not super likely for me; at least at this point. I have no criminal history, I had no intent or knowledge that there was anything wrong, so I may even be able to get this kicked down to a misdemeanor.
I have a lot of information to collect for him and I have a court date on January 7th. Just a local village court again.
Sadly, this monkey will be on my back for ages I think. He did tell me I should try and relax a bit and keep living.
So that's all I got for now. Eventually this will become too routine to bother me much between court dates. :/
That said, I am going to try and get my mind off of panic mode. I haven't been sleeping well for at least 20 days.
Thank you all so much for being patient with me. I am hoping January will be more emotionally lenient for me, and I can get back to more regular work.
