2025-03-24 15:59:54 +0000 UTCThose books sound like the intellectualized cornerstone for the F'ed up world we live in with regards to patriarchy, misogyny, chauvinism. From what I did learn in school (via a 2nd generation East Indian American social studies professor), it comes from the societal elite (access to education, etc.). In other words, this is born of the caste system in India .... and sistah, THAT was/is one messed up system! It is STILL prevalent among MANY in American East India society (witness to friends of my brothers & myself). So, while there's a LOT of things mentioned that were progressive and lofty regarding sex, women's sexuality, emotional/spiritual betterment for all ... one can't ignore how that shakes out in real world application to patriarchal driven societies (monarchy, capitalism, communism). Just saying.
