In regards to your development for Shirou I am totally down for it, and I am glad that you didn't have him master the combination, even at a basic level. My favorite part in martial arts manga or novels is when the character truly makes the style their own, that they add techniques or adapt the style to fit their body and personality. This honestly reminds me of a fight in the manga hajime no ippo, miyata vs randy boy jr. Both boxers are at their strongest and both emulate their fathers as best they could. However, in the end, the winner was the one who, for just a second, added their own element to their fighting style and moved beyond their father. That's what I love
