Early Acces to The Lord of the Rings Reaction: The Fellowship of the Ring FIRST TIME WATCHING Part 2/2

Comments

Thank you so much for this information. So Belrog is not that big of a deal compared to Morgoth. This is scary. But also makes me feel very thrilled. I have read many comments regarding the books, and I feel the urge to buy them. Movies seem to be just a drop of the whole story. I understand that the books contain the information you mentioned, right?

OH! One last comment! Just wanted to give a bit of context to Gandalf the Grey's final stand against the Balrog. Remember the words he said to it as he was raising his staff up against it? Where he says, "I am a servant of the Secret Fire. Wielder of the Flame of Arnor. The Dark Fire will not avail you! Flame of Udun!" According to The Silmarillion, the first Dark Lord of Middle-Earth, Melkor (also known as Morgoth) had an army of Balrogs under his command. That included one named Gothmog who rode a dragon too. Anyway, when Morgoth held dominion over Middle-Earth, he had a fortress in the North named Utumno. However, Utumno also went by the name Udûn. So Gandalf calling the Balrog a Flame of Udûn is a reference to the fact that this Balrog was once a servant of Morgoth. After Morgoth was defeated to mark the end of First Age, the surviving Balrogs scattered across Middle-Earth to hide. One of them hid inside Moria which the Fellowship of the Ring encounters. Also, to be clear, this Balrog in Fellowship of the Ring is not Gothmog. I just mentioned Gothmog because I think it's cool he rode a dragon haha Lastly, Gandalf also refers to himself as a servant of the Secret Fire. You may remember my comment on your YouTube video of Part 1 where I mention that Gandalf is a Maiar. He was created and sent by Eru Illuvitar who is like the God of creation of Middle-Earth. Eru Illuvitar has the power of the Flame Imperishable from within its spirit which kindles existence out of nothing. The Flame Imperishable also happens to go by the name of "Secret Fire."

Excellent video!!! Keep up the great work! I absolutely love that you love the music for The Lord of the Rings too. The soundtracks for all 3 films are truly a work of art, as are the films. So when you eventually watch the Extended Version of Fellowship of the Ring, you will also come across this song included in the film around the time Sam and Frodo are still in the Shire. It's called the Passing of the Elves and it's just so beautifully made. I hope you like it too! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kE8aTGuU0l8
