I recommend "Gravity Falls".

This show handles gender roles brilliantly. I love that Suki was allowed to value her warrior spirit and her femininity as separate things. Too often 'strong' women are written to be more masculine, and that usually turns out a boring character. Suki has dimension. And Sokka humbly owning his mistake is one of my favourite moments of his. He's not afraid to let his world view be challenged, which is a brave thing to do. Really enjoying your reactions, excited for more!

As a Buffy fan from way back, when my kids started watching Avatar I immediately saw the parallels: Ang = Buffy, a young person tasked with saving the world who is not ready to take that on; Katara = Willow, support for the Ang/Buffy character and just beginning to develop her own power; Sokka = Xander, no superpowers, but dedicated to the other two and comic relief. As the show progresses the parallels only deepen and there are other characters in AtLA that correspond to those in Buffy. I'd be interested if you had noticed this as well and if you notice the parallels later on. And of course I love the show - my kids and I watched the original broadcasts, and so would make sure we were in front of the TV at the right time to catch the next episodes. We watched the series finale as a family event, and we love to rewatch them (the only "kids" show I would enjoy rewatching, with maybe the exception of Kim Possible, which ALSO has it's own Buffy parallels!) As always, I'm enjoying your reactions and analysis and I predict you will only come to like the show more as it progresses.

Okay, I'll comment then ;) I don't have that much to say about Avatar because I've only watched it once. I think by now you're getting the gist of what the show is gonna be like. There is character growth and character arcs for everyone, but they take their time. It's a long trip.

Wait ... where are the comments? xD
