Can you believe it's been 3 years since we started running The Town as a Mastodon instance? I think that's pretty amazing. And I have some fun plans in store soon!
The biggest thing: if you've checked our Trello board, I just moved the "Migrate to Hometown" card over to "in progress." This means I'm going to actively look into migrating us over to Hometown in the upcoming week. Once I have plans in place, I'll set a date and let you lovely folks know when it's time to move over.
I know there have been some PRs languishing in the GitHub over the last little while, and folks have suggested looking into forum software and other nifty ideas. I'll focus on the Hometown migration first, and then take a look into the other things when I have a moment.
One smaller note: you may have seen I stopped sharing expense reports over Patreon and OpenCollective, just to make it less work for me to share the report every month. To end this short update, and I can't say this enough: huge thank you to you wonderful folks for donating to keep the instance up and running. As far as maintenance goes, we've been doing quite well for 3 straight years and that's wonderful to see.
I'd like to also extend a thank you to the new admins & mods that have joined on this past year as well. Moderation can be a very exhausting job, but having more eyes on the reports helps out a ton and keeps our Town a nice, safe, cozy space.
