I finally got around to watching I Saw the TV Glow as well, and I'm surprised you didn't mention the Tara cameo! she works well since the movie uses allusions to shows such as Buffy (like the Pink Opaque having the Buffy font in its intro sequence) to strengthen the themes of nostalgia and our changing relationship with past media.. along with the themes you talked about. great movie! beautifully shot.

I haven't watched the recap yet but people are commenting about New York films, I'd suggest a film i just watched in the UK it's called My New York Year, but i think in the USA it's called My Salinger Year, also the classics Annie Hall and Hannah and her Sisters, Hannah and her Sisters has my favourite ever ending to a movie.

I don't think Cass should feel too bad about not liking a particular movie because of how a movie/genre's fans might react... I myself have felt somewhat crestfallen at times during movie reactions when a movie I like didn't "hit the spot" with a reactor.
However, I know tastes and opinions are different and I admit to having a soft spot for some real stinkers as well as great movies. Cinema also hits different when one is no longer in their teens/young adult and execution matters (I like "Cujo" as a book even though I find the pacing of the movie unwatchable for example).
I don't know how far back Cass' horror movie history goes but I might recommend "Dark Night of the Scarecrow" (1981) if it could be found and "What Lies Beneath".
My September film watching has not consisted of much other than rewatches although "Grey Lady Down" (1978) had not been viewed by me in many years. That one is basically an imperiled submarine rescue effort story with Ned Beatty and David Carradine as the most memorable names involved. I also finsihed reading "Heart of Darkness" by Joseph Conrad ("Apocalypse Now" is loosely based on this work with emphasis on loosely).
Looking forward to a recap of October activity. Cheers.

For some reason, when you said you were going to put a film in 'wasted time' I had a sudden thought that you might put "Alien" there. I have no idea why, but I was all ready to come out with "But you didn't hate it in your reaction!" I'm glad my sudden paranoia was off-base.
Lee Pace is a great actor, but nobody bats a thousand. Not surprising that he turns in a bad performance in a stinker film. I think you would love him in the TV series "Pushing Daisies".

I would suggest “A Rainy Day in New York” it’s a cute Woody Allen Rom-Com

The best movies that I watched for the first time in September were 'Beetlejuice Beetlejuice' and 'Heathers'.
I have seen 'Alien' before; great film. As well as Spider-Man 3; not the best of the Raimi Spiderman Trilogy (I think that Spider-Man 2 is the strongest film, then 1, then 3).
Interesting fact about Raimi directing Spider-Man and Evil Dead films is that he includes his '73 Oldsmobile in his films. The car that Ash drove in Evil Dead is the same one that Uncle Ben drove in Spider-Man.

For an autumn in New York vibe I'd suggest watching Autumn in New York.
