Sun Ra is also a jazz composer and poet

I love everything you said about what this album means. I would probably rank it lower, but I still really enjoy it. It feels very transitionary, both in her music and in her life, with her figuring out a lot about herself after the huge critical success of NFR and where she wants to go from here. It's a very chill, vibey album and I feel like you have to be in a certain mood to want to listen to it.

Chemtrails album is about her Ex Sean, a cop from Oklahoma who lived in Tulsa and Lana traveled from LA to Oklahoma to see him. He got married while he and Lana were together and she had no clues. Blue Banisters gave me emotional damage, can't wait to see your reaction.

Love the album reaction Cassie!!! You’re going to love Blue Banisters if you love this one!! I think with every listen this album gets better for me personally, I couldn’t see the appeal unfortunately, when this album came out but I love it more each time!!! It was fun listening with you ❤️

This is such an easy listening album for me. Definitely not my favorite Lana album, but I’ve grown to love it nonetheless. Although, I do have to say that I prefer Blue Banisters between the two 2021 albums. Can’t wait!!

Girl, I’m so excited for this! I can’t watch properly and in full until I’ve got better internet (hopefully tomorrow!) but I’ve watched up to the end of White Dress - with regards to the ‘look who would do this, look who would got this’, I’m 99% sure that’s an error in the lyric translation rather than what she actually said. I don’t think she changes up the lyrics here, I think it’s still ‘look how I do this, look how I got this’ (definitely sounds it to me). The only issue that arises from reading Lana lyrics as you go is that she never ever releases the official lyrics to her songs to any platforms (she talked about this in a recent interview and basically said whatever is out there is not official and doesn’t come from her and that sometimes they are wrong). She barely ever puts them in physical album liner notes either, so unfortunately we can’t always trust the lyrics on Apple/Spotify/Genius to be exactly right. The fact that ‘look who would got this’ is so grammatically incorrect is what makes me think it’s an error, because even though Lana plays with grammar occasionally, she never really does it in this much of a glaringly obvious way where it just doesn’t work lol. Fun fact about this song - it was improvised on the spot with Jack on piano and Lana literally ad-libbing the lyrics and melody over his playing in the moment - so amazing! Anyway, love your insights into this song and can’t wait to watch the rest of the reaction!

I love Lana Del Rey! This was the first album i heard of of her and i like how she gave gave me a kind of a apocalyptic feeling. Although "chemtrails" for example Is considered as a conspiracy in a academic point of view. And Sun god "Ra" was an ancient God, that no one rarely worships today. This makes her lyrics interesting. She creates her own world in mixing mysteries and experiences and with a touch of going back and forward between concepts, both historical, real and unreal. That is quite intelligent.

Finally got to watch the whole vid and I am so excited to hear your thoughts on the next two albums! Blue banisters was definitely a grower for me, and a lot of the songs are so personal to the point that it almost makes me uncomfy listening to if that makes sense lol! Ocean blvd was immediately a hit for me and there are two songs on there, kintsugi and fingertips, that I’m very interested to see you break down lyrically! As for chemtrails, it’s not one that I come back to a lot, just because it’s not quite my vibe, but I always have dark but just a game, dance til we die, and wild at heart on every playlist of mine lmao

Also, the last song For Free is actually a cover of Joni Mitchell.

This album is definitely a grower and is great to listen to if you want to listen to a short relaxing album. It came out a short time after she had a little controversy with an Instagram post she put out, calling out people for saying she glamorizes abuse, and asking why other singers don't get called out for singing out "being sexy and wearing no clothes." this got some backlash as she called out some singers by name. I think this is what is meant by some of the lyrics in this album about the fact she's not going to change and will continue to sing about these topics, because that is her experience etc...

I’m a huge Lana fan! So excited to see your reactions to these albums. Her music definitely changed a lot over time. This is probably my least favorite album. I only listened to it a couple times and it’s just not for me but I will listen to it again to watch your reaction! The next 2 are way better. Sorry it’s just my opinion please don’t come for me y’all!
