[T] World War 2 - Vehicles - Germany - 01

Just like the Germans with their Tiger tank, I may have dabbled in a bit of overengineering here.

Commentary:
I'm finally glad to be able to release the first of this series of packs. That's right I plan to make more! A big reason for wanting to make this is that, to my great surprise, I don't see a lot of WW2 stuff for vehicles or assets. So thought it would be a lovely niche to fill.

Story time:
In my excitement to fill this niche, I had become far too ambitious and wanted to make a bit too much. For starters, I thought I could make 3 different views of each vehicle. Top, Side, and Bottom. And then as a cherry on top, destroyed variants of them too. After the first 4 tanks, I realized that I had to cut that ambition down to just the top view. Somehow my past experiences seemed to stay silent when ambition came to play. I should've known of course, can't fly too high.

However! It seemed a waste to just have one lonely variation of the vehicle. What more, what is a tank that can't rotate its turret?! So I made a variation of each tank with the turret missing, and as  a separate asset. Now, you can import both the Hull and Turret to have a dynamic tank that can turn its cannon towards your players no matter where they are!

Yet, here again I saw an opportunity!

What if players wanted to make their own abomination tank? Or, just mix and match turrets, gun and whatnot?  So, I made completely bare versions of the hulls, and started separating as many assets off the tanks as I could. Before you know it the project was yet again vast and time-consuming. Didn't help that our irl life keeps us busy too.

But now another level of complexity! Shadows. Those bits and bobs are tiny, but don't look right without shading around them. So what to do? I can't expect a creator to shade each and every asset (it's drop-shadow not internal one). That would make the tank-building process quite the chore. Gotta minimize unnecessary steps! So experimental shading begins. Do tell me what you think.

Now, 2000+ assets with their variations later, I have them exported and seemingly good to go! But the  trouble with a high-quality format of 512px = 5ft is that tanks become 2K to 4K files. So the PNGs became quite hefty.

Changelog:
2023/10/29 - DD tags
- Fixed the Vehicle_Hulls tag having both hulls and turrets and the Vehicle_Turrets tag not having the turrets.
2023/11/01 - Alternative downloads + shadow removal
- Removed shadows for Guns/Turrets (the mix was too confusing, in the future an alternative version with drop-shadows for everything may be created.
- Opened this post up to all, put downloads behind paywall,
- Added a PNGs download
2023/11/03 - Fixing all the errors
- Secure downloads are glitching so waiting on a fix before reinstating them and making sure they won't glitch out again.
- PNGs made unavailable due to size limitations. (Hopefully will be back soon)
- Renamed all files to have the tag _VG1_ (Vehicles Germany 01) [DD Save Breaking]
- Added the missing files (about 140 objects) to the Dungeondraft file (long story -.-)
-More small fixes (missing objects)
2023/11/05 - Turret rotating fix -> Version 1.07
- Adjusted the canvas space around the Vehicle_Turrets assets to allow for smooth rotation
- Added PNGs

Thanks for reporting that error. It's an annoying one, second time it's happened within the span of a day which makes me wonder if this secure download thing is any good at all. I've contacted the CDN support staff to ask why this happens, because it makes no sense to me (it just breaks out of the blue). Hopefully, they'll get back to me with a permanent fix. Also thanks for telling me about your hesitancy to press allow on the after clicking the link. I guess I ought to put a little hyperlink explaining what the download link will ask for. (just a third party checking pledges to make sure you 're allowed to download the file). As soon as the links will be fixed, I'll reply again. Apologies for the inconvenience.

I just got around to trying to download this and the link for the .PNGs gives me an error. Did you switch where it's uploaded to? I didn't download immediately because I didn't know what that cloud company was, so spoke to my bf and a friend who understand sites more than me to know if it was safe to say Allow. It originally let me onto the site but then it gave an error message. It also was giving me an error message when I tried to download the .PNGs from the cloud site before an error trying to access the site through the link.
