Only band I didn't know is Wage War, it's pretty good. And I'm glad you mention Pelican. I guess it was one of bands that got me into Post Rocks. Love it!

Hello just wanted to see what you thought of these band? Parkway Drive, The greatest fear Pelican, The creeper Wage War, Death roll Whitechapel, I Dementia After the Burial, Lost in the static

Dave Jenkins

Oh, Sunn. Saw them live once, pretty impressive performance. But I'm not sure if I'd call that "music" per se. I totally feel you, and I understand what you mean, but for me it's the other way around. The older I get, the less I want to listen to cheesy melodies, clean vocals and sweet harmonies. And yes, a lot of Grind leans a lot into noise territory, but it's almost always intentional. And I think that makes for a great atmosphere. Went through a stoner phase too, I still dig Dopelord and Electric Wizard a lot, but that's about it.

I like downtuned guitars. Stoner, Doom, Sluge is my jam. Well.. everything is my jam actually but goregrind is just noise for me. When I was younger I had no problem listening Rompeprop whole day. But when I'm older I prefer something more melodic. Man I even listened Drone and that's like.. literally suicide. You listening that and you want to kill yourself. But it's beautiful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BduCtSg9R8o

I can't quite follow the argument that (Gore) Grind isn't heavy. I was big into Deathcore back when it was in its beginnings (All Shall Perish, Chelsea Grin, early Black Tongue, Suicide Silence etc.), but I find the calculated productions, songwriting and the downtuned 1000 string guitars to be too predictable and superficial. It has no real aggressive spirit. However, the album I posted above is pure chaos, far away from musical norms and, in my eyes, extremely heavy. But more in a sense of emotional aggression, ruthlessness and authenticity. It feels more honest than "Song with 8 breakdowns #32812". Sorry for the rant, haha.

I was fan of goregrind some time but, for me it's just not heavy and melodic. There is some good goregrind bands but I prefer something more tuned down. Like Black Tongue for example. It's just heavy as fuck. Breakdowns everywhere and you can feel that music. Goregrind is just.. pigs and noise. But.. I think this one is my favorite https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNUKWLP1qwo
