Even I am not clueless or insensitive, and this is coming from a person who's level of empathy has been described (by others) as, "So lacking as to be capable of fitting inside a newborn mouse's anus." (Yes, I have friends—however few they may be—that are that colorful in their allegorical descriptions.)
