Fun fact most of the tournament footage was from the real Over the top tournament "Almost all of the footage in the film is from the actual tournament.โ The only exceptions were the shots that featured Stallone himself. Stalloneโs on-screen matches, with Rick Zumwalt, Bruce Way and a few actors who were not genuine armwrestlers, were all filmed the day after the real finals"

Not his best but Daylight was probably his last great 90s movie. Worth a look.

A few years back I realized the song "Meet Me Halfway" is a metaphor for arm wrestling - where the arms meet halfway across the sky.
Then again, that might be a stretch... crazy coincidence tho.

Ahh, Hard Target. One day a reaction will come... One bad buy literally gets shot 5 times in the chest at point blank range, then kicked in the face, then shot 8 more times in the chest as he falls. Nobody's life is complete until they've seen Hard Target...

Once the song kicks in "winner takes it all" for the montage of arm wrestling scenes is so epic. Anyhow you will get to the Expendables series im assuming soon at some point so you guys def need a few more Van Damme movies on your list too. Kickboxer, Lionheart, Universal Soldier and Hard Target should be on the list once you get back to him.

Daniel recognised the grandfather right away. Robert Loggia. He was Feech in season 5 of The Sopranos. He was also Frank in Scarface. Robert Loggia's in quite a few films I'd love to see on the channel. But way out in front of all the others is Psycho 2, where he plays Norman's psychiatrist.
Psycho 2, still my favourite horror film, still my favourite sequel in any genre. Hoping for it sometime this year (its 40th anniversary!)

Hereโs a long winded answer: Do you live in Germany or have a German copy of the film? WB distributed the movie in North America but other companies distributed in various territories. MGM was the distributor in Germany. Thatโs how independently financed films work. This was done by the infamous โCannon Filmsโ & so like many other independent movie companies who work outside the big studio system, they sell the movie to various distributors all over the world(thatโs how most of their profit will be made)). The distributors are responsible for theatre bookings, marketing, and depend on the distribution deal will get a big slice of the box office. Itโs a gamble basically. The distributor is hoping the movie earns more than the fee they paid, while the financier reduces the risk of the movie not breaking even.
One of the most infamous and short sighted distribution deals was New Line on the LOTR trilogy. They kept North America for themselves, so theyโd market and distribute the movie and earn the theatrical revenue. But they sold the foreign distribution so that the cost of the movie wouldnโt sink the studio. They came to regret this decision big time when all the LOTR movies made more overseas than in NA. Especially Return of The King, which became the first movie since Titanic to earn over 1 billion dollars at the box office with over 70% of it coming from overseas.
Edit: Oops I just read that your copy is WB and theirs is MGM. So they must have either used a Germany copy or they use a VPN to access various streaming services in other countries.

On the surface yeah it has some 80s cheese but this movie holds a special place for me, I lost my father when I was 11 and this was one of his favorite movies, so anytime there's a father son dynamic in a movie it makes me feel some type of away ๐ plus it has a great soundtrack lol edit: oh and btw Daniel next time you have the feeling of "this is gonna be rough" at the beginning of a movie just remember some of these movies are recommended for a reason lol us patrons will never steer yall wrong๐๐๐
