I do agree with Sudden Impact, Harry just felt like a tag-along in his own movie and I really do fault Eastwood for allowing that because him dating Sondra Locke at the time seem to put their relationship ahead of his career choices. But I do love The Dead Pool on the other hand, yeah it's the fifth one in the series so the formula is played out but it is still fun and like you said feels like a return to the first film with Harry taking one guy instead some group of people.

Pelham is one of my all time favorites. Great suggestions and I’ll second Serpico.

Since you guys have enjoyed these classic 70s crime/police movies, a few other classics come to mind: Marathon Man, French Connection, Taking of Pelham 123. Definitely think you'd enjoy.

I don’t see why there wouldn’t be. All their other reactions make it onto the channel.

Oh yes, the Eastwood monkey movies. And one of them features the classic country song You’re the Reason God Made Oklahoma.”

The Dirty Harry movies are a lot of fun. Clint Eastwood was 46 when this movie was released, so about middle aged, probably exactly for him since he’ll be 93 in May. But he always kinda looks like an elder statesman. This definitely had a darker ending than the previous ones. The next one, Sudden Impact, has a great twist to it and I can’t wait for your reaction to that one. Cheers to another great and funny reaction.

After you guys finish the Dirty Harry series, I think you should check out Space Cowboys. It is another entertaining Clint Eastwood film.

It's disturbing how prescient Dirty Harry was back then. All the things he had a problem with in the first three movies are worse today: arming criminals, dirty cops, and domestic terrorism.

I Don't quite agree with you there, I see what you mean, the last two had a Bit of a Different Style (More 80's), but still the Dirty Harry Vibe ... Love all 5 Parts, Especially Sudden Impact !! And the Rating of 6,6 is a very good Rating ... Some Films on the Channel are fare Below that ... Even 6,3 is good !! For Example films like Armageddon had also a Rating of 6,7 ....

Fun fact: In "Dirty Harry" when Harry tries to eat his lunch and the bank robbery starts, as he's walking / crossing the street, there's a movie marquee with "Play Misty For Me" in the background.

Dumbest, best. Tomato Tomahto. The '80s weren't a high point for car chases in cinema. Other than "To Live and Die in LA", I'm hard pressed to think of a truly memorable one.

True, although amped up by a thousand in recent years. Profit seems to be secondary to ticking woke boxes, even if it alienates a huge swath of the customer base (like that Gillette ad atrocity)

Seeing Alcatraz reminded me of the great movie Escape From Alcatraz starring Clint Eastwood. I highly recommend adding it to your list

If you guys like these Dirty Harry films, you ought to check out Play Misty For Me. It was Eastwood's first film as a director and he did a great job (He went on to direct many sucessful films, both with and without him starring in them).
In Play Misty For Me, Clint plays a radio DJ dealing with an obsessive situation that puts his life and the lives of those close to him at risk. It's a great little thriller that pays off in some exciting and interesting ways. It an important movie in Eastwood's career too, showing his directorial beginnings. Can't wait for more Dirty Harry too.
PS. More Al Pacino, please!

And thus endeth the last of the good “Dirty Harry” movies.
The next one, “Sudden Impact” deviates from the formula quite a bit and, to me, is a vehicle for Eastwood’s significant other at the time – Sondra Locke. The last one, “The Dead Pool” is a return to the standard formula, but seems somewhat how the “Die Hard” series ended up.
For reference, and because you mentioned it, here are the movie release years for the franchise:
“Dirty Harry” (1971) Runtime: 1 hr 42 min 7.7 on IMDb
“Magnum Force” (1973) Runtime: 2 hr 4 min 7.2 on IMDb
“The Enforcer” (1976) Runtime: 1 hr 36 min 6.7 on IMDb
“Sudden Impact” (1983) Runtime: 1 hr 57 min 6.6 on IMDb
“The Dead Pool” (1988) Runtime: 1 hr 31 min 6.3 on IMDb

I loved Tyne Daly in this, she was so likeable. Even Harry warmed to her.
I remember her from Cagney & Lacey.

Pretty much all the modern woke diversity nonsense operates. Institutions and corporations kissing ass up the ladder for favours in return for pushing 'the political message.

Wonderful reaction to maybe the weakest installment of the series. Though, I will say, Dirty Harry movies are kinda like pizza--even the bad ones are still pretty delicious. And f you liked the car chase in this one, just wait til the 5th and final film, "The Dead Pool", as it has one of the best "car chases" of the '80s and, without ruining anything, certainly the most unconventional one.

Not my favorite Dirty Harry film, but it has not only my favorite Harry scene, during the testing sequence where we're introduced to Moore, but also my favorite Harry quote ("Here's a seven-point suppository, Captain").

I don't know if you ever saw it, but the actress that played Kate (Tyne Daly) was one of the stars of the hit 80s cop show "Cagney & Lacey".

I was in my single digits during the 70s, but I remember enough, and movies like this make me miss a lot of things about the 70s. I miss the 80s even more though.

So a van in the 70’s without flames would be suspicious. DiGeorgio his partner in the beginning was in the first 2 along with Lt. Bressler so there is a continuity. Mustapha played by Albert Popwell played in the first 4 movies as different characters.
