Evil Dead II (1987) First Time Watching! Full Movie Reaction!!

Evil Dead II (1987) First Time Watching! Full Movie Reaction!!

Comments

If y'all ever watch this again, take a look at the left side of the door in the fruit cellar as Ash approaches it to retrieve the Necronomicon pages. You'll see something weirdly familiar. 😁

Lee N.

*dripping* "Nah, that's a lot of blood." *explosion of blood* LOL OMG. that was hilarious.

Scott Kerr

Yeah, I usually save these drops for the weekend. I saw a couple days ago, they dropped DEAD BY DAWN and I was all, "Man, at least I got this to look forward too."

Philip Davetas

Wow. I can't believe I forgot about A SIMPLE PLAN. What a great movie!

Philip Davetas

She’s pretty sharp, that Mrs. Schmitt.

Nick of Time

Dude, I know. Most people don't catch that on the first watch.

Philip Davetas

I can't fault whoever. Because for sure, the theatrical cut is more rousing.

Philip Davetas

I was laughing out loud at Daniel’s expressions when Ash and what’s-her-face where looking through the book and see the illustration of the man from the sky in the 1300s and Sam’s like “wait, is that *him*?!” and Daniel just smiles, having already seen the third movie. Of course I love seeing things with y’all that are totally new to all of us, but I also love these moments when it’s something Daniel knows but can’t say. 😊

Nick of Time

Aww hope it's a better week ahead! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

This was such a fun reaction. You guys are always the cure for a rough week at work.

Joseph Tamburo

@Future Boy yeah, I’ll freely admit his first two Spidey films are *better* than DMTH, I just like it more ☺️

Nick of Time

I love Maria Conchita Alonso in that. She never gets enough props. Her range from that to PREDATOR 2 to CAUGHT. Amazing underrated actress.

Philip Davetas

I third this recommendation! It always surprises me how many Sam Raimi films I love. Also love Spiderman 1, 2, 3. A Simple Plan. And Darkman is a fantastically dark superhero movie, which I'll take over everything in the MCU.

Future Boy

It's on Disney+, but there are two post credit stingers.

Philip Davetas

I would dig a reaction video of DRAG ME TO HELL!

Philip Davetas

Telling you, man. They've gotta be setting up ASH VS. MARVEL ZOMBIES.

Philip Davetas

Added to our list! I haven’t seen that one but not sure about Daniel -Sam

TBR Schmitt

We’ll need to look for it! We haven’t seen it yet! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

It’s on our list! -Sam

That is so crazy to me how much the universe has been expanded from the first film, so cool! I’m not sure which we’ll watch for the 3rd, we’ve been finding that usually there’s only 1 version available to stream, so our decision may be made for us! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Haha accurate! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

So interesting! Hahah the end was not at all what I was expecting! Excited for Army of Darkness now to see how this all plays out -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Haha thank you! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

That’s intense! Haha -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Oh no! I’m sorry all, that’s frustrating! If anyone can find a fix to combat that on our side, please let us know! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Haha this was so much different from the first film! Oh that sounds awesome! Thanks for the recommendation! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Hope you enjoyed the reaction! -Sam

Outside of the EVIL DEAD movies, another Sam Raimi film in the same goofy-horror tone is his 2009 film DRAG ME TO HELL. It is great! Probably my favorite Sam Raimi film, period, even over his SPIDER-MAN movies. Just try and imagine what he would’ve done with EVIL DEAD if he had a $30 million budget to spend. 😁

Nick of Time

Notice in the new Dr. Strange (2022) movie (directed by Sam Raimi), there is a cameo, paying homage to a certain scene in this movie.

Mr. Writhms

I’ve had this happen a few times as well. This movie was about 3 mins longer on steaming compared to my dvd. They must be playing a slightly different speeds. Which is the correct speed? Not sure, physical I’m guessing.

Tommy Richards

I gotta request the horror/comedy Vampires Kiss with Nicolas Cage. So good

Ken Veader

I think they watched the Prime Studio Canal. But I just paused until the video synced back up.

Philip Davetas

I love all things EVIL DEAD/ARMY OF DARKNESS. There's a series of comics called ARMY OF DARKNESS where he meets Herbert West of RE-ANIMATOR, Cassie Hack of HACK/SLASH, ASH VS. MARVEL ZOMBIES (which I think MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS is setting up), DARKMAN VS. ARMY OF DARKNESS, and even FREDDY VS. JASON VS. ASH. Dude, XENA VS. ARMY OF DARKNESS. There's also a series of video games. One where Ash has to escape from a mental asylum and has a half demon sidekick named Sam (as in Raimi) helping tear up all things evil and dead. The new one came out last month which I haven't played yet. I even read all of Bruce Campbell's books. He wrote one book called MAKE LOVE* (*The Bruce Campbell Way) where it goes EVIL DEAD meta when a fan has stolen a prop from the set of ARMY OF DARKNESS. It's a rabbit hole I went down many, many years ago, but I wouldn't expect you guys to go down. However, ASH VS. EVIL DEAD (the series) is primo stuff. I don't know what you guys are going to do for ARMY OF DARKNESS though. There are two cuts. Both are super amazing. However, the theatrical cut is so much fun. But at least I'd like to hear your thoughts on the Director's Cut ending at the very least. I'm sure it's on YouTube. Although I'm a huge fan of the Director's Cut. Much longer and more moody. There's also a great doc on YouTube called SWALLOWED SOULS on the making of this particular film, not the franchise. Oh. And this film was NEVER submitted to the MPAA for rating--EVER. I don't know why Amazon says it's rated R or NC-17. And Sam Raimi knew it would get an X based on the last movie which is why they created Rosebud to make it look like it was a legit film. They go over that in SWALLOWED SOULS. Man. I feel like I wrote too much, but EVIL DEAD just gets me so pumped and even more so when people discover it.

Philip Davetas

Streaming sites seem to always be slightly off from physical versions

Ken Veader

That's a good way of looking at it lol

Samuel Bruce

I always look at the first few minutes of this one like when a t.v. series does the "previously on..."

Vwlss Nvwls

I believe this movie started Sam Raimi's trend of putting Bruce Campbell and some times Ted Raimi in all his films. Ted Raimi plays the possessed Henrietta. "He's just gonna keep that chainsaw." - you had NO idea. :D I love this reaction, especially when you two said in unison "KEEP READING!!" :D This is a very stylized film, and I think the overacting was somewhat intentional in many areas.

Vwlss Nvwls

"That WAS her mom..." "Yeah, that WAS her mom..." These are too much fun :) edit: The guy, at the end, who starts the "Hail!" chant is the film's director: Sam Raimi :)

Uncle 'Traveling' Matt

Every part of Ash alone and going crazy, captures what it’s like to be alone with my thoughts lmao

Jonathon Dragovan

does anyone else have problems watching along with the blu rays of films? every time i use a blu ray to watch along it ends up getting noticeably desynced multiple times. like my blu ray player is spinning the disc slightly too fast or something

Sebastian Syrinx

I am so happy you stuck with it, Sam…I didn’t want to give anything away but after the first movie I was like “Come on—-hang in there!” At some point, you two should listen to the commentary track on Evil Dead 2…four best friends picking on each other for 90 minutes. I actually like the movie with the commentary even better than the movie itself. 😁

Warren H

Yessss!! Best of the series!!
