Action Film Poll!

Help pick the Action movie we will react to!

Please feel free to suggest other options in the comments for future polls!

*We received a ton suggestions on the last polls, but we are trying to keep the poll sizes more reasonable. We have noted all suggestions for future polls!

NOTE: I have seen Bourne Identity, Enemy of the State, and Man on Fire, so this will only be Sam's first time watching!

Comments

Man on Fire is a stone cold classic

Odd Thomas

Btw, “US Marshals” is a sequel to “the Fugitive”… since it’s a sequel, should get a free pass to watch

JayDee AhBooWan

I’m so glad I suggest this movie as it was added to the poll and it WON!!!

JayDee AhBooWan

What about Casino Royale? Bourne identity is the only good one on this list.

Gino Padula

I’m sad that Young Guns was 2nd last, I think you guys would love it. Maybe it will get another chance down the road. I don’t think I have watched any reactions to it.

Mark M

Are you guys going to watch Bloodsport anytime soon?

Demos Samolis

I'll definitely have to catch that one. Thanks! Love James Woods. I liked him in Indictment: The McMartin Trial

Jonathan Patrick

Young Guns almost won last the western poll(got a lot more votes than The Searchers and The Wild Bunch, which is weird to me - Young Guns is good - but those are regarded as 2 of the best westerns ever made), so its definitely not forgotten, just out of place on an action poll. You might find The Visitors (1972) interesting. It was inspired by the NY Times article that Casualties of War was based on(its kind of a sequel of sorts). Stars a young James Woods and directed by Elia Kazan. Its streaming on paramount plus. It's not a great film(feels a bit like a filmed acting exercise, all taking place in Kazan's house) but still interesting I think.

Birdie Num Num

Yes i Think the Same !!! I love The Actors Polls, but Polls only for 60's or 70's movies make sense

Florian Meier

The Warriors is a great '70's action film.

Brian McNally

You have too many good movies on this list. You need to pick the top 5 😉😂

oldcdog

The fact it inspired the relationship between 2 characters for Reservoir Dogs I think was pretty cool. Those movies would still get more votes than Casualties. Anyhow I do think it's better than a lot of War films that get voted on, but as you said nobody has seen it. Sadly the same for The Insider. And apparently somehow somewhere people eventually forgot about Young Guns? Lol I don't understand that one.

Jonathan Patrick

And if polls were dictated by what Tarantino likes, Assault on Precinct 13 wouldn't have finished last in the action poll:) And Rio Bravo would be the most requested western.

Birdie Num Num

They could be the first lol I hope 🙏 But yea Legends of the Fall was another being ignored but channels are starting to react to it now. I'm holding out hope.

Jonathan Patrick

Most on here probably haven't seen Casualties of War. Fury and Hacksaw Ridge will dominate the next poll I'm sure. Most reactors seem to react to the same films over and over again(not their fault, they can only react to what is voted for). There are no reactions to Casualties of War on youtube that I can see.

Birdie Num Num

Tarantinos favorite war film, you'd think the Tarantino lovers would be asking for it

Jonathan Patrick

Casualties of War is pretty amazing, but sadly has no chance of winning a poll around here. Also I think it might sort of break Sam(yeah all war films are tough to some degree but that may be next level - along with Come and See)

Birdie Num Num

I guess no good action movies were made pre 1988. The French Connection got like no votes in the last poll, which is sort of sad. I know this idea has been floated in the past, but maybe have polls involving just 70s or 60s or 50s films (meaning a poll for each decade)?

Birdie Num Num

It's funny when I see a bunch of hate spewed toward Michael Bay, mainly it's from the online crowd. Obviously, movie quality is purely subjective, but Bay is the 4th highest grossing film director of all time, so more than a few people must enjoy his movies.

David Crabtree

The Rock has maybe the single greatest movie line ever uttered on film!

David Crabtree

My first choice was Armageddon, but you can't go wrong with The Rock!

David Crabtree

But I did vote for The Rock 😁

Randy Torres

Honestly I thought Armageddon would of done better, the Bourne series is amazing as well.

Randy Torres

Plus his academy win Leaving Las Vegas with Elizabeth Shue

Ken Veader

Please consider a Nic Cage a -thon. Hes already on a couple films on the pole and his filmography is so diverse that I would love to see him be the next actor you do a series on. Early classics ( Raising Arizona, Vampires Kiss), his action trilogy, which you have a couple on this pole, late career highlights ( Pig, Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent). Iconic

Ken Veader

Aw bummer, Young Guns is getting gunned down in the poll. I think maybe it deserves another chance on like a Western poll or something. I still think of Emilio Estevez' Billy the Kid as THE Billy the Kid. Lot of good choices on here so I'm good, not the biggest Bay fan I'll admit, but The Rock is one of his movies I can shut up and enjoy.

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

The Rock is a standout Michael Bay movie. I really enjoyed it as a kid but after rewatching it as an adult I've noticed the cheese. xD Movie that's worth rewatching, sure. I just don't feel that it holds up.

Logan Kerlee

Tenet, Triple Frontier, Eastern Promises, Enter the Dragon, 13 Assassins , Hell or High Water

Ed R

If The Rock holds out, it will be a great introduction into the films of Michael Bay. I highly recommend watching 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, which we're coming up on 10th anniversary of the true events that this movie is about, which follows the six members of the Annex Security Team who fought to defend the American Diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya from waves of militant terrorists on Sept 11, 2012.

David Crabtree

Please...no...not The Rock...Michael...Bay...sucks...(gasps)...(dies)...

Steve Mercier

I'm a big fan of Michael Bay, minus his last couple Transformers sequels. I think 13 Hours was brilliant. Different strokes for different folks. That's the beauty of subjective movies.

David Crabtree

Young Guns changed the way the modern westerns were made. The best.

Jonathan Patrick

I voted for Young Guns specifically so they would get to Young Guns 2. In my opinion, a sequel that is better than the original.

WastedPo

I don't mind that you don't mix new films with older ones. I just never see polls dedicated to more recent films, but maybe you've already seen the standouts. Anyway, enjoy Everything Everywhere All at Once! That is my favorite movie of the year so far!

alexray

I've been asked not to put older films with newer films on the polls, additionally, we've seen a lot of newer films. The only film on your list we haven't seeing yet is Everything Everywhere All at Once that we're planning to watch in theaters :) -Sam

TBR Schmitt

I'm kind of bummed the average age of the films on the polls is ~30 years old, again. With the exception of the one-trick-pony Hardcore Henry, I think all the movies are fine options, but it would be nice to occasionally get a poll of 'Films not available at Blockbuster in the 1990s'. Children of Men (2006) Whiplash (2014) Sicario (2015) Parasite (2019) Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)

alexray

Con Air all day

Ken Veader

Yes! That would be great

Florian Meier

"Man on Fire" is definitely the pick of the litter, and I'm sure Sam would love it. "Enemy of the State" is excellent. But "The Rock" will undoubtedly win, which is fine, because it's a good movie. A couple of the others . . . ugh. But everybody has his/her own tastes . . .

William 1611

Young Guns. What a classic.

Rudy Hernandez

I'm so glad I can vote for more than one

Liz Booker

Ooh I like it! I have a few in mind already 😊 -Sam

TBR Schmitt

We have seen Independence Day! Love that film! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

You guys just did The Fugitive, it would be great to follow it up with US Marshall’s.

Colin Thomas Nichols

Agreed... I went with Last Boy Scout cuz of my live for Shane Black

Byron Easley

I chuckled sorta when I realized half of these movies nearly are from Tony Scott.. what a badass he was

Byron Easley

Dang, Man on Fire (2004) is getting KILLED :( I don't think a lot of people saw that one, unfortunately. Imo, it's in a whole different league than everything else on this list. That being said, The Rock is winning at the moment and that's a pretty fun one :)

Uncle 'Traveling' Matt

Well damn... The Last Boys Scout is the 2nd best Bruce Willis movie Director - Tony Scott (True Romance, Top Gun ✈️, Crimson tide, Man on Fire 🔥. Written by SHANE BLACK (Predator, a Monster Squad, long Kiss Goodnight, Lethal effing Weapon!!). THIS IS THE ONE!!

Byron Easley

Both are classics for sure.

Jonathan Patrick

So many great ones, yeah?

Logan Kerlee

I will be SO STOKED if Bloodsport ever wins!! That movie was so much fun to watch as a kid!! Easily my top favorite fighting movie. Top favorite action movie still has to go to Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

Logan Kerlee

hahaha, you're right that it doesn't make sense.. it is an awful lot of fun though!

Logan Kerlee

If it goes up against Die Hard though.. that has my vote!

Logan Kerlee

I'm down for this!

Logan Kerlee

Solid movie without a doubt! I was shocked that he was in it.

Logan Kerlee

It's definitely a thrill ride!! Greatest movie ever though.. nah. xD It's a whole lot of fun to watch but I'd never go that far.

Logan Kerlee

Not going to lie, one of the bigger reasons that I'm voting for Man On Fire is because I love watching people react to the soundtrack. I fucking loved the music in that movie! The movie itself is also very entertaining and action packed. I really enjoy watching people react to the story.

Logan Kerlee

The Bayness of Michael Bay movies. Where good movies go to the stupid!

Mike LL

May be the only Michael Bay film that isn't completely bad. Well, The Rock isn't completely bad, but, oh, the Bayness of it!

Mike LL

Or save our sanity and never do a Michael Bay series!

Mike LL

Michael Bay?

Mike LL

I hope The Rock wins over Con Air. Nicolas Cage wasn’t seen as an action movie star until his performance in The Rock as far as I know. He followed it up with gems like Con Air and FaceOff. I think you guys should watch them in that order. I also voted for Young Guns!

Mark M

Guys, I gotta say that Face/Off may be one of the greatest movies ever! The acting is really what pulls it off. The action is great and all but Nick Cage & John Travolta facing off really sells this movie

Rick Trujillo

Movie suggestion for Action-y movies .. The Foreigner The most non Jackie Chan, Jackie Chan movie in recent times it was a great watch

Mudge Pendragon

Maybe save The Long Kiss Goodnight for Christmas.

Future Boy

Duncan

Young guns, don't believe anyone has reacted to it

Kage Uzumaki

I have an idea for a poll. How about a list of films that Sam has seen, but Daniel hasn't? Let's get some more "Husband's First Time Watching" reactions :)

Michael Chavira

Agree!

David Crabtree

Armageddon would be the best time!

Jay

Agree, "The Long Kiss Goodnight" is the Christmas alternative to Die Hard and a great movie,it won't win vs this company in the polls,so it would be perfect just saving it till December

Duncan

Bourne Identity is amazing

Aaron Barlow

Bourne Identity is a classic. The whole series is brilliant.

Aaron Barlow

Great Poll !! Love "The Long Kiss Goodnight" and " U.S. Marshals " Hope you watch Both some Day ... "The Long Kiss Goodnight "is Perfect on Christmas

Florian Meier

Oh ok. Sorry. It is, but I didnt know how these were gonna go bc I saw Young Guns in action not in Western. It won't ever win though 🤣 sadly. I just hope people would give it a chance. I just figured anything action was in action.

Jonathan Patrick

Oh man so many classics on this one, thanks for adding The Rock to the list.

Randy Torres

I thought that was a war film! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Casualties of War :(

Jonathan Patrick

Eagle Eye is another great action movie.

Mike Bridges

People are sleeping on "The Long Kiss Goodnight", written by Shane Black. One of the best action movies made in the 90s. Sam Jackson and Geena Davis? Come on, man. Let's go, people. 😁✌️

Mr. Writhms

Lot of ooof on this list 😆 Gotta be either Face/Off-crazy fun, plus John Woo +, or Bourne Identity. Con Air sure not as much of a Nic Cage chef kiss but close, Enemy of the State is decent . All others are skips imo

Charlie Keeler

A lot of great choices here! My number one pick is Armageddon! But then The Rock, Face/Off, Con Air, and U.S. Marshalls would all be great choices!

David Crabtree

Bourne Identity is a great series of films. Really really good. Another good series though you guys may have seen it is The Transporter series with Jason Statham. Especially since he does all his own stunts. Everything you see him do in that movie he did. Like he really did it all himself.

Alex

OMG seriously most of the movies on this list are a great time!

Terry Lee

It didn't get a lot of votes last time :( -Sam

TBR Schmitt

"Face/Off" is insane. They had so much fun making that movie and you can see it. It doesn't make a bit of sense, but it is wonderful.

Thomas Yanez

Armageddon or Man On Fire

Jihad Lee

Should just do a Michael Bay series. Not many Oscar contenders in his library, but they are damn fun to watch.

Mike Adams

How did Bad Boys not make this list

Kwan wallace

Can I pick all of them 😃 great selection guys every one will be great so no bad choice here 🥳

Ian

YOUNG GUNS. It gets overlooked way too much. Young Guns 1 and 2 "I'll make ya famous" -Billy the Kid And I recommend BLOWN AWAY (1994) with Jeff Bridges and Tommy Lee Jones. The very good explosives movie that got overshadowed by Speed. And some Van Damme Bloodsport Lionheart Timecop

Jonathan Patrick

Seriously, all of these. 🤣
