Horror Film Poll!

Help pick the Horror movie we will react to!

Please feel free to suggest other options in the comments for future polls!

*We received a ton suggestions on the last polls, but we are trying to keep the poll sizes more reasonable. We have noted all suggestions for future polls!

NOTE: I have seen Saw, so this will only be Sam's first time watching!

Comments

Love the saw series. Love the endings to each one lol how the show the connections.

Mike keith

You need to put From Dusk Til Dawn on the next poll. Unfortunately it's a spoiler to say it's horror, because you want to know nothing about that movie when you see it. Even the poster is an unforgivable spoiler. Just know Tarantino wrote and stars in it (his only really good acting role) and Robert Rodriguez directed. It's fantastic but DO NOT SPOIL IT for yourself!

Ron Moses

Dang saw would have been really fun to react to that's like a seven movie ride all the films interconnect great storytelling maybe someday in the near future you could react to those 😉

dieselbeast

Wow so many classics on this list. Rosemary's Baby actually came out in 1978, but is considered one of the best horror movies of all time. The original "slow burn" that establishes it's effects through tone and pacing. Bram Stoker's Dracula is a masterpiece and is definitely a must-see. Fright Night was one of my favorites growing up with one of the most underrated performances in history (Stephen Geofferys as "Evil" Ed) so gotta put a vote on that one too. Lots of good choices!

Brian Shipman

Throw Paranormal Activity on one of these horror polls. The original one was amazing and still simple.

GV

You might have to do another poll with just SAW and the dracula movie lol and just have us have the option of choosing one because it's too close/tied lol

dieselbeast

Would love to see a reaction to Nosferatu (1922). It's the best adaptation of the Dracula story imo. Also the 1979 version is great as well. Bram Stoker's Dracula is just an exercise in style imo(and unintentionally funny with Keanu being so out of place and Hopkins chewing scenery). A good intentionally funny Dracula movie is Love at First Bite.

Birdie Num Num

My suggestion : Critters (1986) sciencefiction/horror

Nietzswein

Oh wow, wasn't expecting Dracula to do so well, pleasantly surprised. To me the movie is epic, as is the soundtrack. Back in high school I had an art teacher who would let us select a movie soundtrack to listen to during class on certain days, and one day someone put this one on. I thought it was great, really stirred up the creativity, and I don't think I'd even seen the movie yet. Popcorn didn't like it btw, but you know she really doesn't go for horror like at all, so hopefully Sam and TBR enjoy it, if it does win.

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

I'd never call The Terminator a horror film. It scared the CRAP out of me when I was a youngster and first watched it. I knew it was an action movie then, as well. I watched actual horror movies like Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street and IT. The Terminator isn't like any of those.

Logan Kerlee

Saw is only terrifying if you have an active imagination. If you have the ability to transport yourself into the character's shoes or be able to empathize for the character - it's a scary (and disgusting) ride. I'm for watching it. It's a different type of horror.

Logan Kerlee

Prometheus is a great watch, but when I first watched it I wasn't reminded of the original Alien films. As such, watching it after the Alien franchise would be for the best, I feel.

Logan Kerlee

I don't think a lot of people have seen "It Follows" but they should. Its a great movie. Same with Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Puppet Masters (not to be confused with the Puppet Master series) is also pretty cool.

Ed R

Actually, all of these titles should be seen. Whether it be the script, the visual style, or text/subtext, they all have an important place in the horror genre. SAW is my least favorite, but that’s just a personal preference. I definitely respect its ideas though.

Robert Boyd

So I just went back and watched your "Alien" watchalong and it occurred to me that it's been quite a while since you've had any sci-fi horror on the channel. You only watched the first of the Alien sequels (which is definitely a good thing!) but have you ever considered going back to the franchise to check out the prequel film "Prometheus" (2012)? It was directed once again by Ridley Scott and is one I personally love.

Nick of Time

Different strokes for different folks. I know people who this I'd their favorite kind of horror. Me personally, I don't find any entertainment value in that torture porn stuff.

David Crabtree

The Saw movies are not scary, they're just gross.

Chris Bruneau

"Horror" encompasses a lot of different kind of movies. You Got sci-fi/Horror like Aliens and the first Termintor, horror/comedy like Gremlins, Shawn of the Dead. My favorite horror movies are the ones that mix the genres a bit. My favorite all time horror movie is Scream, which blends horror, thriller, suspense, some comedy, and a who-done-it mystery.

David Crabtree

Agreed Vwlss, slather on a good bit of premium "camp" and you have Fright Night. It is a great watch.

SimianSupreme

Don't forget about 2003s High Tension

mikethemotormouth

Day of the Dead is still my favorite of that Romero trilogy. Doesn't get near enough respect as it deserves. "I'm running this monkey farm now, Frankenstein!". 😜😜

Donna Castellano

Sam, did you ever upload the full reaction for Scream 2 here? Unless it's the Mandela Effect, I swear I remember seeing a full length for Scream 2 on the Patreon. I went to look for it a few months back and I didn't see it again. Am I crazy or hallucinating?

Donna Castellano

Fright Night is a great movie, but I would not classify it as horror. More suspense and comedy.

Vwlss Nvwls

I have a suggestion: The People Under the Stairs. Definitely Wes Craven's most underappreciated horror movie.

EdmanXERO

I gotta recommend the original Suspiria (1977) for future horror polls. Be cool to see you guys dip your toes in giallo/Italian horror

Ken Veader

If they do Night Of the Living Dead they gotta do Dawn Of The Dead & Day Of The Dead, Romero's zombie trilogy

Ken Veader

"Bram Stoker's Dracula" should be the obvious choice for first place. The Dracula story has become such a cultural cliché that it's hard to freshen it up, but Francis Ford Coppola did exactly that in 1992. Truly an all-star cast, including some very quirky picks (like the gravel-voiced singer Tom Waits), and a performance by Gary Oldman that makes the viewer's head throb. "Rosemary's Baby" has not aged well: it was shocking when it came out in 1968, but since then its theme has been run into the ground by ripoff movies. The original "Night of the Living Dead" has never been surpassed as a zombie movie, because you really care about the characters . . . For true horror (body horror, to be specific), I'd suggest David Cronenberg's "Shivers" (1975, also known as "They Came from Within"). It was a low-budget Canadian film, but it's kind of a classic: nauseating and funny at the same time, but not a straight-out comedy. Prime Cronenberg! A very overlooked movie is "Boxing Helena" (1993), directed by David Lynch's daughter Jennifer, and starring Sherilyn Fenn from "Twin Peaks:" more body horror, but more shocking and subversive, a very sick love story. Just a suggestion . . .

William 1611

Friiiiiight niiiiight

PIG

Oh you’re so COOL, Brewster!

PIG

Fright Night & Dracula are great.

Rudy Hernandez

Bram stokers dracula isn't scary, so much as a visual masterpiece. I can watch it over and over. Coppola is a genius!!!

Chris Bruneau

Scariest movies I've ever seen: the ring, poltergeist, and night of the living deac

Chris Bruneau

Imo, some of these are much more interesting to think about, historically-speaking, than they are to watch. Personally, I'd recommend the remakes of both Night of the Living Dead and Fright Night over the originals... it's not even close. Don't think I'm in the majority there, though! :) Anyhow, if I may make some suggestions for the future: - It Follows (2014) - The Babadook (2014) - Session 9 (2001) [theatrical cut only] - Slither (2006) - Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) - Ringu (1998) [Japanese, "The Ring"] - Ju-On (2002) [Japanese, "The Grudge"] - Inside (2007) [French] - The Loved Ones (2009) - Rec (2007) [Spanish] - Eden Lake (2008) - Timecrimes (2007) [Spanish] - Audition (1999) [Japanese] - Let the Right One In (2008) [Swedish] - Wolf Creek (2005) - Funny Games (1997) [German] - Dead Snow (2008) [Norwegian] - The Descent (2005) [UK version only]

Uncle 'Traveling' Matt

Whenever I see somebody recommend "Lost Boys" (fine choice) I have to add "Near Dark" from the same year.

Andrew Crouch

The Lost Boys is fantastic 80's movie. I'd prolly recommend that when/if they ever do an 80's movie thing. It's way up there on classic horror.

Logan Kerlee

I say watch the remake of Carrie (2010+) whenever it was .. it stars Chloe Grace Moretz (mmmm) and she does a fantastic job of the part .. AKA Hit-Girl from the Kick Ass movies

Mudge Pendragon

Whatever wins, I hope you watch Carrie at some point soon. Along with Stand by Me, easily the best Stephen King adaptation you haven't seen yet.

Future Boy

Daniel hates dolls. So we all know how to vote!

Future Boy

Definitely The Conjuring needs to be on the list if you guys haven't seen it

Jay

@Sam much like my hatred for mannequins I'd bet

mikethemotormouth

ROSEMARY’S BABY and NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD are straight up masterpieces. You need to watch them even if they don’t win the poll. You guys will love them both. Trust me.

Robert Boyd

Did you react to PA on your channel or see it personally in your own time a while ago?

Aaron Barlow

Missing Paranormal Activity, the Conjuring films, Annabelle films and Dog Soldiers

Aaron Barlow

The sister scared me even more than the boy. Always thought they coulda made a movie specifically about her, imagine if she was buried you know where lol

Jonathan Patrick

you watch saw then you must watch all 7 saws they are must watch movies and movies very well done. saw one of my favourite horror movie franchise of all time

James Bate

I don't think PS is a good movie, but I enjoy people getting shocked by the kills. FRIGHT NIGHT is just straight up fun. All these movies in the poll are good for gore and shock factor. But some I love more than others.

Philip Davetas

Only correct answer is Fright Night, tho I’d recommend Lost Boys be added at some point

Charlie Keeler

"Pet Sematary" is the only Stephen King book that scared me into not being able to put it down until I was finished.

Thomas Yanez

I thought so!

David Crabtree

"Friiight Niiight" [said in a shrieky voice].

Mr. Writhms

Child’s play!!!

Walter White

We did Scream! One of my favorite reactions, but it got taken down by Paramount :( It's here on Patreon still! We'll try to get it re-edited and up on the channel at some point and the sequels. We have seen Paranormal Activity as well! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Not wild on any of these except Fright Night. Some picks for future horror polls: Scream, Monster Squad, Paranormal Activity. Also, with Fourth of July just two weeks away, I'd like to highly recommend Mel Gibson's The Patriot from 2000. Top Gun would be another great patriotic choice for the holiday.

David Crabtree

Daniel HATES dolls haha -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Fright Night is good

Jihad Lee

I can't believe only 2 votes for Night of the Living Dead. This is the godfather of all zombie movies - y'all need to see it for that reason alone

Smooticus

Saw or childs play let's go! lol

dieselbeast

Fright Night and Pet Semetary, best of the 80s horror (other than Nightmare on Elm Street and Poltergeist, Lost Boys) Fright Night and Pet Semetary are must see classics. Fright Night Part 2 as well.

Jonathan Patrick

Child's Play still scares the crap out of me today.
