Al Pacino Films!

Help pick the Al Pacino movie we will react to!

Please feel free to suggest other options in the comments for future polls!

Everybody always choosing Scarface. Nobody ever reacts to Insomnia, which is a decent underrated Pacino and Robin Williams film.

GV

Next to Taxi Driver, Glengarry Glen Ross is my all time favorite movie. Acting and dialogue are phenomenal. It would’ve been great if Al Pacino had won the Oscar for Supporting Actor.

Jose Diaz

I think Dog Day Afternoon would be a great place to start if they're going to go down a Pacino movie road. Around the time of The Godfather films and highlights Pacino's ability to play a diverse range of characters, his character in DDA being wildly different than Michael in The Godfather films. But Scarface is going to win any poll because it's among Pacino's most popular movies.

Brandon B.

I enjoy it, but it's definitely super 80s camp. For sure a movie of its era. Not really one I think stands the test of time. Although, watching Pacino chew the scenery for 2 1/2 hours is enough for me to get over that cheesy 80s campiness.

Brandon B.

Really, people? Scarface is great but it's been done to death with so many other reactors. Why not chose one of Al's underated movies? Like Carlito's Way. Or just go ahead and do a Pacino filmography watch through the summer?

Gerald Corona

It's a good thing you don't bother to censor the cursing in your YouTube versions. You'll never hear more profanity in a single film than Scarface or Glengarry...except maybe Wolf Of Wall Street and the South Park movie. That would be a lot of bleeping.

Scott Greene

So torn between Dog Day and Glengarry

Michael Soukup

The Insider needs more love.

Joel P

See, that's the exact same feeling I had (same with Godfather too)... I'm 43 and I saw both like 10 years ago for the first time and I wonder if the shine had worn off over the years cuz of other stuff similarly done (Goodfellas,Reservoir Dogs) that I had seen

Byron Easley

You're not alone. I think Scarface is overrated. I think its because it was very hyped up for me and when I finally saw it, it fell sort of my expectations.

Ed R

I'm sure I'm in the minority but I never thought Scarface was all that good. I guess it never lived up to movies like The Godfather, Goodfellas, or Casino for me. Maybe because I saw it after other similar movies.

Ed R

Throwing my hat in also for The Devil's Advocate. Definitely should be a watch among the Pacino library.

Robert Cintron

I know Scarface is probably going to win because it's a more popular movie, but I really hope you watch Dog Day Afternoon at some point too. It's one of the best performances of Pacino's career (and one of the best in film history, imo) and just a great film. Also stars John Cazale, the actor who plays Fredo in The Godfather films. Insomnia is also a great performance and movie, another Michael Mann film.

Brandon B.

Yes !!! I live "the Devils Advocate" ... Also I miss "Sea of Love"(one of the best Pacino Performances for me)

Florian Meier

Thats most of my recommendations. Insider was also on my list 🤣

Jonathan Patrick

So sad, I remember watching that film on Day 1 as a 17 year old in the theater, and I loved every second. The music. The build up. MANN was so food at building up tension. Anyone who actually gives it a chance would be glued.

Jonathan Patrick

Yeah I just wrote in a post below that The Insider is on my top ten of favorite films. The background of the real story, the acting, the directing, the editing, the music was all pitch perfect. But it’s just not popular enough to win on a poll.

PIG

The Insider is one of my Top 10 movies. I don’t think it will ever win on a poll though :(

PIG

Agreed should be nowhere near 1st place imo lol

Jonathan Patrick

The Saw movies are not scary, they just gross.

Chris Bruneau

"I'm the last of the Mo-riccans"--Carlito's Way

Chris Bruneau

thats a great idea!!!

Chris Bruneau

And Paul Newman and Robert Redford . . . both of them did a lot of really iconic film, but it seems they're only remembered for "The Sting" and "Butch Cassidy" - - - both fine films, but their individual movies were wonderful.

William 1611

Another one for the Devil's Advocate! It's a delightful truffle for Pacino fans.

Rue

This is only applicable to the actor polls where it feels much more clearly like you're just determining an order. On the broader genre polls it feels like more of a warranted system...for the most part.

Tyler Foster

Might be too crazy of an idea, but an ambitious thought to mix it up: if you're really going to go through a chunk of an actor's filmography like this, what about alternating as you get through it: a poll winner, followed by the one that gets the least votes. Then popularity isn't the only determining vector.

Tyler Foster

Yea. I knew the Saw crowd was gonna come wreck the horror poll too lol nothing against Saw, it it is what it is but over some of those classics? But yea, Just those names alone, Mann and Pacino. Last place...blasphemy lol

Jonathan Patrick

Exactly what I was going to say. That's the problem with polls in a nutshell. There's no better system, but if a great movie is also the least widely-seen, it's going to lose.

Tyler Foster

+1 for Devil's Advocate.

pedantech

Where is the devil's advocate??!!

Aaron Barlow

Scarface & Carlito’s Way 🤘👊

Rudy Hernandez

I love Glengarry Glen Ross, but The Edge (1997, also starring Alex Baldwin) is my favourite David Mamet. I think they would both make great reactions.

Future Boy

"And Justice For All" and "Serpico" are the obvious ones.

Future Boy

Scent of a woman is Pacino 's best performance. But Scarface is such a classic film, I see why it's in 1st place!!!

Chris Bruneau

Wow. Some great ones here! Imo, save the bottom 3 vote-getters for later polls. But you CANNOT lose by watching the others in an "Al Pacino series" (Scarface followed by Carlito's Way would be a great way to start!)

Uncle 'Traveling' Matt

Just close the poll and give it to Scarface. It's not the best of his (and I'm prolly the only one alive that thinks that) but it's must see more than any of these for pop culture sake.. my vote went for Donnie Brasco however.

Byron Easley

Yes the year he really deserved the Oscar, but they gave it to him for Gladiator the next year. Probably should have been a back to back winner like Tom Hanks.

Jonathan Patrick

Also arguably Russell Crowe’s best performance, too. The Insider is an incredible movie.

Christopher B.

How sad to see Michael Manns masterpiece with Pacino in absolute last place of all those movies. Last place. It's arguably his best film other than Heat.

Jonathan Patrick

I'm a huge fan of these types of polls as well. 😀

Logan Kerlee

Ohhhhh, I fucking love you guys!! xD Scarface is my top favorite 80's movie of all time. I am SO looking forward to their reaction to it.

Logan Kerlee

Catch you later, Sam Jackson

Jason Dolan

I say this is the only poll that will result in a good watch for me. Because I am not thrilled by Michael Bay movies or horror films. Like me some good Pacino film tho. Scarface will be a good reaction. Primo de Palma.

Mike LL

I had to give Glengarry Glen Ross a vote for the Alec Baldwin scene alone. My favourite David Mamet play/movie.

Mark M

When Scarface wins (which I'm glad it's going to win) please react to Carlitos way, I promise you, you won't regret it

dieselbeast

Scarface will win, obviously, but I honestly think most of the other ones are better films overall. 'Insomnia' has the bonus of having a good dramatic performance from Robin Williams. 'Carlito's Way' is probably my favorite of the ones I've seen though.

Jeffrey Miller

If you don't get to it sooner, Scent of a Woman is perfect for a Thanksgiving reaction!

Future Boy

Love this Type of "Actor Poll" .... Hope you do also a Poll with Clint Eastwood, Michael Douglas, Jack Nicholson, Tom Hanks etc

Florian Meier

Same

mikethemotormouth

Yes, THE CONVERSATION is a masterpiece. A must watch.

Robert Boyd

Yes!!! My Favorite Pacino !!!

Florian Meier

That's a good one too. I forget about that one sometimes. That opening breakfast scene was great.

Philip Davetas

"It be's that way sometime, Papi." -- Pachanga

Mr. Writhms

Love CARLITO'S WAY and SCARFACE. I think CW is better film than SF, but SF is just gory fun and has more repeat viewing potential.

Philip Davetas

This movie was my introduction to Al Pacino when I was like 11.

David Crabtree

I agree but Scarface is obviously the more well known pop culture referenced as it should, but man Carlitos way as the kids say today is a banger too lol

dieselbeast

Ugh of course Scarface…Carlitos Way is the superior film between the two. IMO of course.

Joseph Rodriguez

I'd recommend watching all 5 John Cazale films. You'll remember him as Fredo from Godfather I and II. He was also in Dog Day Afternoon with Pacino and in the Deer Hunter, which I think you've watched. That leaves The Conversation as the 5th movie. All 5 were nominated for Best Picture, with three winning.

Raymond Johnson

Scarface most likely will win as it should lol but in a perfect world you should watch all of these lol after Scarface I would watch Carlitos way then go from there just my humble opinion 😁

dieselbeast

Yeah that is one that I didn't even remember Pacino was in .. but Dick Tracy is a must watch. I know you guys like to go in blind all I will say is that my massive excitement over a certain modern day invention was ALL because of this movie :)

Alex

Well gd, all great films. As far as a film for reaction purposes and if it’s Pacino driven I’d go Dog Day first, Scent of a Woman second, Scarface 3rd, Carlito’s Way 4th, the others are not really Pacino centric films but equally great so really can’t go wrong with anything his does

Charlie Keeler

I mean no doubt it has to be Scarface

Jihad Lee

One Al Pacino movie not on here which is highly underrated, is 1990's "Dick Tracy", where Al Pacino was nominated for an Academy Award for his role of the main villain, Big Boy Caprice. Such a fun movie with a great visual style.

David Crabtree

I feel like there are a lot of good movies missing from this list but I don’t remember what they are.

Alex

Devil's Advocate is one of my faves.

Mike Adams

SEA OF LOVE is Pacino's most underrated film

Jason Dolan

THE INSIDER, hands down. True story. Both Pacino and Russel Crowe kill their roles. MICHAEL MANNS Best film other than Heat. Masterpiece of a film. You just dont vote against Michael Mann and Pacino. Donnie Brasco and Carlitos Way after that.

Jonathan Patrick

I voted for all of them.

Smooticus

Woohoo! Yes!
