Speed (1994) First Time Watching! Full Movie Reaction!!

Speed (1994) First Time Watching! Full Movie Reaction!!

Rewatching this again while I should be working and wanted to answer a couple of questions you guys had. Travin broke the guy's car door off because it was in his way. You saw when he jumped from the car onto the bus. He barely landed on the bus steps and actually kind of fell on them. If it was that hard without the car door in the way, it would be near impossible with it there. He'd have to have jumped over it. Also, he could have had the guy move the car over and stepped onto the buss the way the hostages got onto that other car when they were all being let off, but the door would have kept swinging closed on him. It makes sense, but I don't know how good of a job I'm doing of explaining it. As for why they thought the bomber, Payne, was dead after the elevator thing, I have a theory about that. So, Howard Payne killed the security guy at the start by stabbing him in the ear, but later, when Travin and Harry were getting their medals on TV, the guy doing the speech said "The only life the bomber took was his own." Later, Harry says they didn't lose any civilians. This suggests they didn't know the security guard was killed. They never found his body. Payne's bomb jacket blew up when he ran away from Travin and Harry, but he lived. This suggests he threw the jacket off and then ran away so that the jacket blew up, but not him. But, they later thought he was dead, which says there was a body. BUT, the body wasn't Payne's. Who's was it? He would have needed a dead body to look like he died. I think he used the security guard's body to pose as himself. Loved this reaction as much this time as the first.

Raven Dark

Having seen your fabulous reaction to this movie, I'd love to see you two react to Independence Day, if you haven't already seen it. That movie and this one have nothing in common so you might wonder why I'm recommending ID here, but ID also has a lot of great action and white knuckle moments. Plus, I think you guys would love the movie and the special effects are great.

Raven Dark

i second gravity so good

MIke

Such a great movie if you can suspend your disbelief and just sit back and have fun. In case you wonder, the sequel is not nearly as good, not sure if it's worth a reaction video.

Vwlss Nvwls

Everyone listed Keanu movies, but I think another similar great one-after-another white-knuckle thrill ride with Sandra is Gravity. My guess is that you've seen it, but if not, I'd LOVE a reaction.

Tyler Foster

POINT BREAK! and the remake is actually pretty great too! can't say that too often these days!

Mister Lou

"RIP HER HANDS OFF!". At least we know what caffeine does to Sam now. 🤣

Donna Castellano

A bit of 90s nostalgia: the scene where Dennis Hopper was watching football got some laughs from theater audiences because, at the time, he was a spokesperson for the NFL and did a lot of commercials and promos where he was getting real fired up about games 😉

oldcdog

Point Break is DEFINITELY worth a watch. Plus, if you ever plan to watch Simon Pegg and Nick Frost in Hot Fuzz, watch Point Break first since Hot Fuzz has some spoilers in it 😂

oldcdog

Yeah, definitely watch the Bill & Ted movies. You will for sure have a good time with those classics.

EdmanXERO

This is a great classic...dont see Speed 2.

Roy Skodjevåg

“50 feet?!??” Lmaooo only in movies

Richard

God damn this soundtrack is eerily similar to Metal Gear Solid's OST Was the composer influenced by this movie?

Sebastian Syrinx

Not Sandra, but Keanu and Dennis Hopper were both in a movie together in the mid 80s called River's Edge. This might be the best straight up drama that Keanu has done. Well worth watching, criminally underseen.

kbobravo

"Rip her hands off!" LOL. You guys are too much :)

Uncle 'Traveling' Matt

Speed is a very entertaining movie! I think I like Sam on coffee😊☕️

Mark M

I don't know where else to put this but RIP to Ray Liotta, Hollywood lost a great one. Some of his films, Dominick and Eugene, Goodfellas, Field of Dreams, Copland and more.

Jonathan Patrick

Granted, the filmmakers digitally removed that missing chunk of concrete, but as the folks at Cine Fix point out, director Jan de Bont and stunt coordinator Gary Hymes really got that city bus to fly. Using a vehicle that was stripped down to bare bones, driver Joffrey Brown revved his engines and headed straight for ramp constructed on an LA freeway. He began driving from a mile away and managed to get the bus up to 61 mph before soaring 109 feet in the air. When Brown returned to Earth .49 seconds later, the landing pretty much obliterated the bus, but Brown managed to survive the impact courtesy of a special harness designed by Hymes.

Andy Hafler

The 50 foot jump is one of the most unrealistic physics-breaking stunts in film history, the bus surges upwards from some invisible ramp and flies upward for no reason lol. Not to mention that the train at the end almost slows to a top after derailing then somehow picks up speed and goes another 100 metres or so uphill haha. Still one of the greatest action films of all time.

Aaron Barlow

Special note: Gigantor/Ortiz is in an epic prison gang film that would be great for the channel......"BLOOD IN, BLOOD OUT". And the Tourist guy from Speed is in "YOUNG GUNS 2" as one of Billy the Kids new Regulators.

Jonathan Patrick

Yeah, you're right. In fact, I can recall movies having credits at the end from way back when. Perhaps the Directors Guild made such a big deal because it was this monster hit. Seems a lot of ego involved. Of course, this is Hollywood. The Day of the Jackal (1973) only has the credit "Fred Zinnemann's film of The Day of the Jackal" appear 3:30 into the film. I guess that could be considered a hybrid!

David Martin

Dennis Hopper's "Blue Velvet" from 1986 is a must-see. Great David Lynch film, "Red Rock West" from 1993 and "Hoosiers" from 1986 are also great films

Florian Meier

I've seen this movie probably over 10 times and it never gets old or boring... It made Sandra Bullock a star and Dennis Hopper one of the greatest villains ever .... For me, the best Keanu film apart from Speed is clearly "Point Break" from 1991 with Patrick Swayze ... You definitely have to see it, "The Devil's Advocate" from 1997 with Al Pacino and Charlize Theron is also great !! 2000's "The Watcher" and 2001's "Hardball" are also very good films

Florian Meier

Hard to believe that speed came out approximately 28 years ago. Wow. It's still a joyride. I remember how some people were upset over the fact that the bus jumped the bridge. "That is so unrealistic!" they said. I'm like, "Did you ever hear of suspension of disbelief?" LOL. You can definitely see a connection to "Die Hard" with the way the movie is show. This is the movie which made Sandra Bullock a movie star.

Jeff Mills

Great movie!

Jeff Mills

I was just watching Rosebud(1975) starring Peter O'Toole, directed by Otto Preminger. It had no opening credits outside of the title. Also The Godfather, The Exorcist and Sorcerer have no opening credits. So Star Wars was not the first film to do that.

Birdie Num Num

Devils Advocate is great! Underrated movie and Al Pacino

Ken Veader

Credits postponed to the end originated in Star Wars. It went against some rule in the Directors Guild (not sure of the exact name). When George Lucas did it in the second movie (The Empire Strikes Back), he was slapped with a huge fine (as well as director Irvin Kershner). Lucas paid the fines, then resigned from the Guild, which severely restricted his available pool of directors for subsequent films. He had intended for Steven Spielberg to direct Return of the Jedi, but ended up with Richard Marquand.

David Martin

That's too bad. Those poor spiders. ;)

Scott Kerr

The director of this movie was the cinematographer for DIE HARD, THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER and BASIC INSTINCT, among others. This and TWISTER were his two big hits as a director but not much after that.

Jason Dolan

Lake House has the 2... sappy romance, not sure many would like it. Point Break is probably my favorite Keanu movie

Mike Adams

Daniel probably wants to forget that movie lol🤣

Mark M

This is peak Keanu. Yum. 😜 I saw this in the theater when I was 12 (along with True Lies) and loved the score so much I bought it on CD and listened to it repeatedly on my giant Sony CD/cassette player. Yes, I’m that old. 😉 I love that y’all will also be watching The Fugitive and Ferris Bueller. Both great movies in very different ways.

Aimee

Lets not forget that you both saw Jeff Daniels in Arachnophobia not long ago. :)

Scott Kerr

So you guys know I'm a big completionist.. I've told you guys forever you need to watch The Next Karate Kid (I know it's coming) and I even said you guys should watch the 2010 remake even though technically not a sequel. But please for the love of God DO NOT WATCH SPEED 2. The only cool thing about the movie is the title. It's really not I mean.. it's not a sequel to this.. At all. And it's not like this... Maybe much later you can watch it as a Sandra Bullock movie when you've watched everything else under the sun but.. yeah. No go on Speed 2. Yeah you guys gotta watch all the Bill and Ted's they are awesome.. There's a joke today I still can't get enough of from the Bill and Ted movies.. And the Bill and Ted: Face the Music is also good from a few years back (EXTREMELY surprisingly) .. I just remembered actually that I was wowed that it was actually good. With Sandra Bullock the movie she was in right after this I believe was The Net. I've recommended that one before. The first Matrix is really the only one that is any good at all. Matrix 2 is just like a movie where the whole thing is in bullet time. Really sucks. Matrix 3 is a bit better but.. To watch them on your own: I do believe you should see them at least once and decide for yourself, but not for the channel. And of course I gotta still say Buffy and Angel. Ya know I'm gonna say that. I got through Buffy, watching Angel now and he's like ultra bad ass. Literally one of the best shows of the 90s. I can't wait to see Ferris Bueller. Growing up Ferris Bueller was my idol. You'll see why when you watch it.

Alex

Pretty sure they have both seen it,or definitely Sam,they mentioned it in one of their prior Bill Paxton reactions recently.think it might have been Tombstone

Duncan

Alan Ruck (the tourist) was also in Twister (1996)! I know I’ve suggested it before, but I’ll suggest it again bc it’s a classic 😉

WhitneyG

Point Break and The Devil's Advocate (1997) for sure, stacked cast too with Keanu ReevesAl PacinoCharlize Theron

Duncan

Sam just casually dropping "BREAK HER THUMBS" "BREAK HER HANDS OFF" 😳😳 I hope I never have the misfortune of running in to "Coffee Sam" in an emergency

Duncan

Speed is, hand's down, a contender for all-time dumbest-yet-insanely-entertaining action movies. The premise is just BONKERS STUPID but the movie and cast really sell it. Do not watch the sequel, no matter what! It is pure awful.

Christopher B.

Great reaction! Such a fun 90's action flick. Haha I know you guys remembered that Jeff Daniels is in Dumb and Dumber (his name was also Harry in that one too) but don't forget, you saw him on the channel as the lead in Arachnophobia 😃

Lee Brennan

Point Break is a must see! Speed 2 is must avoid!

Jim Johnson

I agree.

Stephanie

Such a fun reaction with you guys, I had a blast watching. So many iconic moments. I truly believe Sandra Bullock had third billing in the film because she was not yet a big star, this movie made her a big movie star.

Mike LL

You guessed and spoiled (for wifey) every twist in this movie. How is that even possible? hahaha!

Philip Alan

Shawshank and Forest Gump are among my top 5 movies.

Aaron Barlow

Constantine was great too.

Aaron Barlow

An uplifting action adventure.

Aaron Barlow

Legends of the Fall Timecop

Jonathan Patrick

I voted for the other movie, but this one was SO MUCH FUN to watch! I watched this as a youngster, so I knew what to expect with it. The both of you were a ton of fun to watch react to this, though. Now, I watched this as a kid. Not in theaters but I remember my mom buying this shortly after it came out on VHS. I watched this entirely too often. Only movie that I watched more of was The Terminator or Terminator 2: Judgement Day. :P So my movies as a youngster were quite action packed! I had fun though and I believe that I turned out alright. haha

Logan Kerlee

1994 is in the conversation for the greatest movie year of all time. Pulp Fiction The Shawshank Redemption Forrest Gump The Lion King True Lies Four Weddings and a Funeral Leon: The Professional Dumb and Dumber Hoop Dreams Ed Wood Speed

Ellie Miller

Thank you for this great reaction. You should definitely watch some other Keanu Reeves movies - Point Break (a must watch), The Devils Advocate, The Replacements, Street Kings, Chain Reaction. I'm looking forward to the The Fugitive reaction. 🙂

Stephanie

Oh darn! Too much fun watching with you guys. Tense/Suspense Sam is awesome. This is still one of the most memorable summer movie theater experiences ever. The other movie they did was a romantic movie called The Lake House. Do not, DO NOT watch the awful sequel. Keanu skipped it so you should too.

Ellie Miller

Sam's "I definitely didn't anticipate this being about elevators" was hilarious and you should put that on official merch! And please, no matter what, do not ever watch Speed 2.

Jen Barnes

First thing I do when I get home, full reaction with you guys!

Gerard Smith

Awesome, I still think that Keanu Reeves and Bullock could make another one with the right script and Director. Why not. Other old frachises can do it, why not Speed. Ha. The competition at that time to Speed is worth a watch too... "BLOWN AWAY" (1994 Jeff Bridges, Tommy Lee Jones, Forrest Whitaker) was also a great movie, much more serious about explosives, I personally feel its even better than SPEED, the problem was it came out only a couple months after Speed so it kind of got ignored. It'd be nice to see a react to that.
