it's only the second time i watch the english version of this movie. my favourite scenes are 1) the final triello + the finale the old man that says about the partnership "maybe next time" it's just too good and 2) all the agua caliente's sequence... the music it's wonderful, the old man one step ahead "Monco", old man "the smoker" vs Wild "the hunchback" duello it's too good "i generally smoke just after i eat why don't you come back in about 10 minutes?" ahahha and then the opening of the safe. In this scene i noticed a slighty difference between the english and italian version. In the italian when el indio says "you will wait a month to get your money" the old man replies with one of my fav quotes "un mese passa presto e IO SONO UN ESATTORE PAZIENTE MA ALLA FINE MI FACCIO SEMPRE PAGARE" that translated would be "a month passes soon and I AM A PATIENT TAX COLLECTOR BUT IN THE END I ALWAYS GET PAID" which is linked to the fact that he has been waiting for a long time to take out Indio but in the end with patience he will get his revenge. Also Indio's parabol in the italian version it's imho slighty better in the italian version because Gian Maria Volonté (Indio) uses words that are not easily translated likes "cervelletto" instead of brain.

I really hope you guys get around to the Japanese films of Akira Kurosawa. “A Fistful of Dollars” is an unofficial remake of “Yojimbo” and, as much as you enjoyed Eastwood’s Man With No Name, I think you’ll be even bigger fans of Toshiro Mifune’s Samurai with No Name 😉

2022-05-12 04:55:34 +0000 UTCThey have said in the past that they can only react to whatever versions are available to stream(see their Abyss reaction) and it looks like the extended cut of Good, the Bad etc is the only version that is available to stream so I'm guessing that is the version they will react to.

2022-05-11 17:34:17 +0000 UTCI must have got the same copy because mine ended up about 3 minutes longer that the one they watched. I hope they, and I, get the theatrical version of TGTB&TU. I don't think there is any reason for the new added scenes and having Eastwood and Wallach provide voiceovers after so many years was particularly jarring the last time I watched it.

I watched the UK Amazon Prime video which turned out to be longer. Just before the last dream sequence when the colonel's sister gets shot, there were more scenes with gang members being taken out by Clint. I had to pause the reaction for just over a minute before continuing. Rest of the movie was exactly the same. I think the next movie is slightly longer too. Music as ever is great in these. Glad you both enjoyed it.

The music and the movies do just get better in this trilogy as they go, the legendary music score for TGTB&TU is considered one of the greatest ever, just as the movie is considered one of the best ever made. I saw them all in the theater in the 60's when I was a little kid - to say I dearly love them is an understatement, they have stayed with me my whole life. And I never noticed that the guy at the beginning didn't match his wanted poster until you guys mentioned it -Outstanding! Can't wait for you guys to watch TGTB&TU! The entertainment value of that movie is just off the charts! Expect everything to get a little bit more intense!

2022-05-09 21:45:46 +0000 UTCThe music in the "Fistful" Trilogy as well as "Once Upon a Time in the West" (which I already recommended that you guys most definitely have to watch) is written by Ennio Morricone, without doubt the best film composer that ever lived. The score for "Once Upon a Time in the West" is even better than the "Fistful" trilogy, a great feat in itself.
