@Arioch I think Covid hit the production hard. It was supposed to begin in early 2020 then was pushed back like a year because things basically shut down. I want to say filming stopped again last June or July because of some cast/crew getting covid. I’d wager a guess of next year sometime. Maybe even 2024, if production doesn’t start up again before fall. Also, it’s not an HBO project. It’s going to be an AppleTV exclusive.

Thanks for the reaction. I'm old enough to remember the news reporting at the time in 1986; all we eventually knew was that there had been a severe accident, and that a number of plant workers and firefighters had died. The news media at the time were much less interested about it than they had been about the American accident at Three Mile Island.
Though some may consider Gorbachev's comment about Chernobyl being the key event of the downfall of the Soviet Union to be self-serving hyberbole, I think there's some truth to it. One of the reasons Soviet officials so feared any admission of imperfection was, I think, because they knew it would begin an inexorable fall of the house of cards on which their society was built. In that, at least, they were proved right.

Is that still going to happen? I had heard reports about it and saw a trailer for it, but that was a long time ago and it had seemed that the project had died. I'll be very excited to see it if and when it does finally come out.

I was a visualization supervisor on the upcoming Band of Brothers: Masters of the Air. I can't say anything about it except that you're in for a treat!

Amazing series, have been watching since Band of Brothers, and The Pacific. I would highly recommend "The Death of Stalin" (2017). It has some intense moments similar to the KGB interrogation of Legasov while still being a comedy and showing some events the Soviet Union.

Really enjoyed you guys reacting to this series. So glad you picked it. The last couple of years have been a real golden age of limited run series. If you haven't, you guys should check out "Years & Years" and "Watchmen" on HBO. Both of them were incredible.
