Back to the Future Part III (1990) First Time Watching! Full Movie Reaction!!

The Clara loop is interesting because before Doc went back to 1885, she went into the ravine. But him going back meant they met and that was the trigger for her not dying. Doc being there was the only way she had a future.

It's possible that Doc drained the gas tank before storing it. (Maybe it would've corroded it?) Similar to how he took off the tires before storing. I could just be reaching, though. I think the more these movies went on, the more potential plot holes there were. [I feel like technically, Marty didn't even have to go back to 1885 at all, since simply giving 1955 Doc the foreknowledge of the accidental lightning strike would've enabled him to avoid the whole thing in the future.

$80 was a lot of money back then. The horse was $75. I can't remember what the $5 was for. A horse these days will cost you like $3000? it was a lot of money back then.

What I realized just now watching this is they could have gone back to where Doc put the Delorean and siphoned some gas from it. I'm sure they could have fixed the fuel line. They could have just got enough gas to get up to 88 miles an hour. I never thought of this before. At first I thought they can just take the Delorean from the cave but then it would create a paradox as if they take it out then Marty can't get to it in the future to come back.. One of those things that could destroy the universe lol. I also realized that he must have reverse engineered the hover board and used what he learned to make the flying train coz I thought how did he do that if he couldn't repair the Delorean so it could fly again?

Y'all should watch the Man with No Name trilogy now, followed by "Unforgiven" (not required for reference, but if you've seen the trilogy, then the spiritual sequel is a must) so you can fill in most of the Clint Eastwood references. At least one of them was from the Dirty Harry series.

Congrats on finding a plot hole in a movie made of plot holes, hahahah. For real tho, good catch on the "Clara dying/headstone" hole. I got a good one for ya.. Why didn't Doc/Marty just pay Buford the $80? I mean, even if he had to sell his business, it would have been easy to keep just what they needed to get the time machine running, take their time with no pressure fixing it, go forward in time to fix or even upgrade the car and get some cash/gold/whatever, and travel back to 1885 to start a new business and live anyway he pleased. Even take Clara along for the trip, unless he wanted to right that wrong and just let her die in the ravine if that would actually correct the time-space-continuum lol. Whatever he wanted, it was all his for the taking, no need for people to get shot/almost killed. All for the low, low price of $80. Yep.

Thank you, Ron! I don't think either of us have seen Time After Time. We'll add it to the list :) Ooh have you played Telltale? Would you recommend it? -Sam

TBR Schmitt

We completely missed that! I thought I was so clever linking it back to the first film haha thanks for sharing! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Lots of time hopping! There was definitely a lot less actual time travel in the third installment. -Sam

Great reaction trilogy :)

Some fun trivia, there’s a Clint Eastwood poster at the movie theater they go to in 1955

Thanks for a great reaction!

It’s ironic that Mary Steenbergen’s character, Clara, was so fascinated with H.G. Wells because she actually met him 11 years earlier in Time After Time (1979). Speaking of which, I would like to recommend this very movie as a nice coda to BttF III.

I don’t think there will ever be a sequel or reboot.

Co-writer and director Robert Zemeckis, who has final rights to all films in the Back to the Future franchise, has stated that he will block all attempts to remake or reboot the original film.

Co-writer Bob Gale has stated that he did not wish to see another film in the series without the Marty McFly character nor any other actor than Michael J. "You better run, squirrel!" These movies are so much fun :)

Parts 2 & 3 were shot at the same time and Part 3 was released the year after Part 2. There was a Back to the Future Animated series that ran for two seasons starting in '91, where Doc, Marty, Clara, Jules, Verne, and Einstein had adventures thru time, but it wasn't as great as the movies.

Nicotti

The part where Marty uses the stove door as armor is a direct callback to part 2. Right before Marty confronts billionaire Biff on when/how he got the almanac, Biff is hanging in a hot tub with two girls watching Clint Eastwood's western "A Fist Full of Dollars". Clint is shot in the chest, but pulls aside his outer layer to reveal a piece of metal and Bill yells out, "Bulletproof vest! Great flick! Great freaking flick! The guy is brilliant!" Here's the Clint Eastwood clip: https://youtu.be/Y9nW4w5tHVM

Nicotti

Not to get too nitpicky but a better plan might have been for Young Doc and Marty to have gone back to 1985 and let Doc properly fix the time machine, build a backup time machine, then return Doc to 1955 with the backup time machine and send Marty to 1885 with proper supplies, mainly - extra gas.

Jason Dolan

Thanks for reacting to this trilogy! I can't wait to watch...but I don't want it to end!! xx

I've been waiting for this!
