A nitpick: Marines really don't like being referred to as soldiers. We are a separate branch of the military with our own culture, history, specialties, and challenges (some people call the Marine Corps a cult, and they probably have a point.) We are Marines, and no one else in America can make that claim. I've been retired from the Corps since 1996, and it's still one of the biggest parts of my identity, although I had a great second career and have had a rich family life. If I have a grave marker when I die, the fact that I was a Marine will be a prominent part of it. I don't get mad if people call me a soldier, but a lot of Marines see it as a slight. I understand that a lot of civilians don't know about all that, so it's okay. Just thought you would want to know.

The ETO didn't have the element of cruelty that the Pacific theater had, but the true level of graphic violence was really left out of BoB. In The Pacific they hold nothing back.
