Details behind Jade Cargill-heat rumors

Jade Cargill has been experiencing some heat within WWE.

Wrestling Observer reported a situation that took place with Shayna Baszler and Jade Cargill last year that led to Cargill getting heat. Fightful had asked WWE talent about the incident shortly after Jade Cargill was written off TV, but those in the locker room had been quiet. Since then, it was claimed that Cargill took issue with something that had unfolded, and the word around the locker room was that Cargill had said something to the effect that Baszler needed to learn how to work, which was denied by people close to Jade.  We're told it stemmed from the match in Scotland where Cargill tapped out in what wasn't supposed to be the finish of the match. People close to Jade claimed she was more disappointed with herself with how things went down, and was apologetic backstage.

Upon returning to WWE, the situation that got much of the locker room talking was Cargill’s promo video that said she was “demanding respect” and being surrounded by wolves in the shape of women all around her.

At least one talent in the locker room mentioned that this was taken personally by a number of talent as they kept the issue between she and Baszler quiet.

Cargill’s absence was also the subject of heat in the locker room. Talent had heard that Cargill asked for the holiday tour off, but was told that the tour was mandatory. Following that, she sustained an injury that several members of the roster doubted the validity of, which is why reports had emerged elsewhere that she wasn’t injured. However, WWE higher ups spoke to Fightful and said that she was injured, and was actually willing to come back much earlier than she did. However, WWE wanted to make sure she was cleared by their team, and she was able to get in additional reps at the Performance Center. Sources close to her claim that she did not ask off for the holidays, contrary to the word in the locker room.

In addition to going to the PC several times a week leading to her return, she did additional training near her home.

Fightful has reached out to a number of the subjects mentioned.

UPDATED WITH ADDITIONAL CONTEXT

Comments

Very little of this never ending Jade injured-not-injured story seems to make much of any sense. Lol, if she ACTUALLY told Shayna that she can’t work… which is hard to believe… then Jade is truly delusional. I am gonna have to reserve judgement on this one.

AW

Thank you. This dude sounds like one of these tribalist fools from twitter who only watches AEW. That coupled with the fact he TWICE called it the WWF lololol 😂😭😂

Does Baszler have a reputation for being stiff in the ring? That's the only context where Cargill telling her she needs to learn to work makes an iota of sense. Something feels off with this story; I have no idea if it's from Jade's side or "the wolves."

Kim Cee

While this clearly has legs and multiple people feel some type of way, getting hung up on the "surrounded by wolves" line when Jade is in the midst of a whodunit storyline where multiple women are suspected of attacking her feels like they're projecting.

It may be very different today, but WWE locker rooms of old were very big on showing respect to the vets no matter how popular you were. If they felt somebody was getting full of themselves, they had no problem taking that person down a notch ala the legendary Wrestlers' Court.

Lynchman

You’re not a wrestler. How the fuck do you know about what wrestlers “need to have”? Just shut up and watch.

The WWF fans were downing her for lack of experience and progress when she was in AEW. She was in WWE in no time and the issues that most AEW fans agreed with the WWF fans about her. No doubt she has the look, she has the confidence, can talk a bit, but with the speed she went through things, she never had the shut up and learn part that wrestlers need to have. She drank some of her own kool-aid because all those negative voices turned to cheers when not a thing had changed on her. I will blame any problems on the WWE fans in this case, they didn't treat her the same as they do most people who join, with her limited experience and all, she needed to be in NXT and learn, that never happeneded. The tribalism affect hurt her but she does seem like she's not as full of herself as she probably could be. Honestly though, if there isn't rapid progress with her, I'd not be shockked if she was let go, a lot sooner than anybody would ever expect.

She was getting better in her tenure in AEW. Granted she was a zero when she started so she had nowhere to go but up and she by no means was ever good but there was noticeable progress to the point her matches in AEW were decent albeit you can still tell the limitations of Jade’s in ring work. IMO she was never worth the level of investment AEW put into her as a major singles star and losing her probably was better for the division.

Chris Kessler

She was still new in WWE and criticized a combat and sports entertainment veteran within 6 months after her debut. No wonder why other talent (possibly Bianca the most, since it costed her a title) was truly dissatisfied with her. Even if she has 15 years experience she shouldn't make comments like that to a well liked colleague

I think you were watching different AEW matches than I was.

Keith Robinson

Ruh-roh.

Gina

Hope all is well with you Sean

Mike

Not nearly as much drama as the other locker room BTW

Ky W

Not surprised as Jade has been pretty transparent about using pro wrestling as means to an end and bridge into acting and “bigger” opportunities. She could be a pretty good performer if she committed herself and was dedicated to learning the craft and I think she was on that path a bit in AEW under the guidance of some people there. But once she went to WWE that went out the window, she probably expected to have her profile skyrocketed pretty fast and that’s not happening. Feels like the women’s division is leaving her in the dust with the rise of so many talented women in WWE. She might be best to go down to NXT and be the champion down there as Gulia and Stephanie move up.

Chris Kessler

Not great!

I don't watch the product but how many matches HAS she had in the DubDubE? and telling Shayna anything??? Anyone remember all the heat Jade had early on in AEW when they had that TNT behind the scenes show? I think it was because she was working too stiff and Brandi had to sit her down and have a chat?

Brian LoCicero

Drama free locker room BTW

Flameducky

She told Shayna that she needed to learn how to work? Jade Cargill .. told Shayna Baszler .. to learn how to work?

ovrthrw

Truer words have never been spoken

Christopher Hendrix

Cargill was never a wrestler in are and never really had wrestling in her blood more bodybuilding. Not a shock that her wwe run has drama

David Amodt

Yikes. If you got an issue with Shayna idk what to say. I think everyone likes her.

thaddperkins

I hate to be that person but if this were in AEW we would hear about it for days I mean we still hear about brawl out. All the anti aew accounts on Twitter are quiet and not saying anything about this

Alexander Fitzgerald

Especially someone who has been working for about a decade.

Josh Savory

Say it ain’t so

Christopher Hendrix

Spicy.

Chance

Yikes

Busby

I don't mean to be mean but Jade hasn't improved enough to be mad at someone else for "not knowing how to work"

Dragmire

Am I surprised???? No
