In 2021, WWE's Survivor Series was almost entirely un-noteworthy, except for the fact that Vince McMahon brought a football-sized golden egg to the arena, and then it was stolen, and then Austin Theory found it, and so began a SUPREMELY weird storyline that featured John Cena murdering Austin Theory with a microphone, Austin Theory failing a MITB Cash-In on the US Title during an open challenge, and Vince McMahon beating Pat McAfee at WrestleMania.
That football-sized golden egg was a promotional tie-in to a Netflix movie called RED NOTICE, starring Dwayne "The Rock" "The Final Boss" Johnson, and BOY HOWDY did everybody think the Rock was showing up at Survivor Series that year.
He did not.
People were not happy about it.
People were also not happy about RED NOTICE, a globe-trotting too-clever-for-its-own-good heist thriller also starring Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot.
It is full of action, and double-crosses, and Ryan Reynolds-branded comedy, and it has a 38% on Rotten Tomatoes. But IS. IT. CINEMA???
